Buk Protocol is creating #RWA solutions for IRL assets that expire. Assets that expire(time-sensitive) — a reservation, a ticket, a booking, tickets to concert, shows and more. We're building an ecosystem of RWA solutions for real-world assets (RWAs) that expire. Buk Protocol helps people buy, sell, resell & Trade tickets or bookings for fun things like trips, concerts, hotels, and conferences & more. It makes it easy to change plans without losing money if something comes up! Imagine selling a booking that you were not able to use, instead of losing money with non-refundable bookings. We just concluded a testnet campaign with BitGet wallet where we had 20,000 wallets connecting to make close to 80, 000 transactions on the Plume Network testnet. We had participants from pretty much the entire world (except for Greenland and Antartica!). The campaign brought its own challenges which our engineering team surmounted successfully. 1. The campaign saw peak traffic of more than 5000 concurrent sessions, with users spending 15-20 minutes per session on an average. Our robust architecture with inbuilt messaging queues and data cache were able to handle this traffic, with significant headroom still available on our servers. Users hence did not face any site outage. 2. Given that we are an #RWA (Real World Application) project we had the blockchain at one end and hotel booking web2 systems at the other. While our architecture allowed us to bridge the speed and performance between the two, some users had to face transaction failures as web2 systems timeout by the time blockchain responded, and vice versa. However, we had anticipated this early on, so instant and on-chain automated refunds were issued wherever there were transaction failures. 3. The popularity of the campaign brought its own set of challenges such as Bots trying to game the system. While the Bots could not cause much damage, they did temporarily choke the bandwidth of our system. Our team was quickly able to bring in rate limiters into our architecture and relaunch to prevent Bots from impacting genuine users. This has been a learning and we plan to build more defenses against bots and bad actors in the upcoming days. Overall the campaign was a satisfying experience to see our tech scale up and see our architecture give proven results. Now on to the next adventure with Plume Network for the next testnet.
