Thanks again to the Colorado Contractors Association for hosting me at last week’s Construction Workforce of Colorado’s Annual Fundraiser at Mile High Station, which was rebranded this year as 1st Annual Cornhole Classic. Business Rewritten, Inc. has been a long-time supporter of construction workforce development, dating back to the 2016 Workforce Act that set the foundation for Julie M. Wanzer, LEED AP’s work on Construction Careers Now and later on the Colorado Construction Academy for CCA. #Congratulations to all of the scholarship recipients. We look forward to seeing all of you on the jobsites for heavy civil infrastructure projects in the future with CCA members. #NextGeneration #ConstructionWorkforce #ConstructionTraining #GiveBack

When I saw this article entitled “How to Overcome Impatience” https://ow.ly/ZFpi50SUgYb , my first thought was “I need to favorite this article and keep it on my desktop.” Patience has never been my strong suit, and I typically mask it with a “focus on efficiency”, but we could all use a reminder about what triggers our impatience and how to harness it in a professional setting. “While there are more technologies to save time, most of us experience time slipping away. We’re drowning in a sea of choice; the skills we learned a year ago lose relevance just as quickly. Email inboxes keep us busy for hours, and social media is a time-wasting distraction. The environment we live and work in contributes to the speed of the internal metronome. In the end, circumstances and people can trigger impatience or trigger a reminder that overcoming impatience is a choice and a practice.” #Patience #Leadership #BusinessRewritten #Communication

“What Does Your Writing Style Say About You?” https://ow.ly/5R9T50SUgrv “We use language all the time. And language, in some sense, is a fingerprint. It reveals or reflects things about the people who produce it. You can predict how extraverted someone is, for example, based on the words they use. But beyond the individual words people use, might the pattern of ideas they put out there, the way they organize their ideas, reveal something interesting about them and their likelihood of future success?” #Author #Writer #BusinessRewritten #Successful

“Some days, the supply of available curse words is insufficient to meet my demands.” ~Darynda Jones And so it goes…resilience, grief, joy…all of the feelings all at once https://ow.ly/RwnQ50SIfC1 In business, we often forget that we are NOT a cog in the wheel, but a human being with a range of emotions. You never know what is affecting your colleague's or your client's current state of mind, so lead with kindness and empathy, while helping those around you build resilience. "Be optimistic. Appreciate the good moments. With time, you will be able to find benefit in the bad as well. Looking back will be like sifting through a junk drawer and finding a treasure trove of weird but wonderful trinkets. A bittersweet inventory of moments that now feel as precious as a misshapen clay mug given by a child. Welcome to the tragicomedy of life. The tears are real but never forget — so are the laughs.” #Resilience #MindOverMatter #Leadership

The season of summer is in full swing, and should be filled with opportunities to sit around campfires, poolside or just on the back porch patio sharing stories with friends, family and even colleagues. Storytelling is one of the oldest forms of communication, and yet, still a medium that we all struggle with https://ow.ly/TeYv50SIcOi “Find something in the story that you can get personal about. Don’t tell stories that don’t match your own interests. If you’re not engaged, it’s unlikely that you will engage your audience. Telling a good story is a performance, and it helps if you can tie it to something that truly resonates with you. Otherwise, the audience will most likely sense your lack of personal connection. Find the emotional connection that works for you.” Watch Business Rewritten’s owner, Julie Wanzer, discuss the power of storytelling in the A/E/C industry https://ow.ly/zQtJ50SIcOh #Storytelling #Communication
