Sammie McCoy, Real Estate Manager at BayWa r.e., together with WRISE Colorado, recently visited Jack’s Solar Garden, the largest agrivoltaic research site in the USA. The tour began with an introduction to the garden’s history and its founder, Byron Kominek, who transformed his grandfather’s farm into a pioneering agrivoltaic site. As they walked through the garden, they saw crops thriving under the solar panels, benefiting from the shade and reduced water usage, while also supporting pollinator habitats. Jack’s Solar Garden is a national model for agrivoltaics, showcasing how renewable energy and agriculture can work hand-in-hand to maximize land use. #WeEffectChange #Agrivoltaics #Sustainability #Agriculture

As summer comes to an end, we take this moment to celebrate and express our gratitude to Chris Law and Rohit Kulkarni, our 2024 MBA interns. Chris, in our Commercial Department, led the analysis of major industry trends for the company's commercial strategy, while Rohit played a crucial role in product enablement for the Americas Region. Their dedication and contributions have been invaluable. As they continue their studies, we wish them the very best in their academic and professional pursuits.  #WeEffectChange #Intern #MBA

With more than 70% of our transmission lines aging and reliability concerns growing, the Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2024 has never been more necessary. This legislation aims to reform the permitting process, allowing for quicker upgrades to our grid infrastructure and more renewable energy projects to be brought online. By simplifying bureaucratic procedures and easing the permitting process, more electricity from renewable sources can be transmitted on an even more resilient and stable grid. Modernizing our grid is essential— not just to keep our lights on, but to also ensure we can meet the constantly growing demand for electricity. 💡 #WeEffectChange #GridReliability #ClimateChange #EnergyPermittingReformAct

Eric Wang’s perfect day at work? – Nothing happens. In Eric's field, that is actually a good sign. He works at BayWa r.e. as a Senior IT & Cybersecurity Manager. For him and his team, silence is golden – because it is a reassuring sign that everything is secure. Eric has always been interested in cyber security, even though his career path started differently. After five years in the military, he initially went into physical security. To ensure a seamless transition to cybersecurity he took up a master’s program that deepened his knowledge in the field. Soon afterwards a friend introduced him to the opportunities at BayWa r.e. and now, Eric safeguards our systems, keeping the bad guys away from infiltrating our networks. But how does he always stay one step ahead of the bad guys?  🔄 Adapting to constant change: Nothing is stagnant. That is especially true for the tech field. Eric’s advice: “Understand that, accept that and change with it”. 👥 Think like the bad guys: In Eric’s job, imagination is the key to problem-solving. Putting yourself in your adversaries’ shoes, helps to #FindNewWays. His mantra-question: “How are they going to breach us next?”    Learn more about Eric, his inspiration, career path and biggest learnings along the way in our latest episode of ‘Encountering the pioneers: https://lnkd.in/dB8iaPpY 👆 #Innovation #WeEffectChange #Transformation #Challenge

Introducing BayWa r.e. Remote Communities! 🙌  This new initiative, introduced this year by our own remote team members, brings together colleagues from across the country for in-person meetups, truly embracing our coast-to-coast presence.  👥 These events feature activities that reflect the local identity of the cities our team members live in. Through these gatherings, we aim to foster collaboration, build relationships, and create a supportive network for our remote workforce.  Shout out to Diana C. and Jenette Sears for working on this initiative. 👏 #WeEffectChange #RemoteCommunities #Collaboration #Community

In the south of Texas, our team visited one of our solar farms to learn more about agrivoltaics.  🐑 While the area surrounding this solar farm is mostly woody plants, the solar farm is covered in native grasses, which makes it the perfect environment for sheep to graze in.  ☀️ Combining solar farms with agricultural activities does not only benefit the communities, but also provides shade and shelter for the sheep, while improving soil health and enhancing overall land use.  At BayWa r.e., we believe that sustainable land management and renewable energy drive each other forward. As agrivoltaics is gaining traction on a global scale, we strive to collaborate with our communities and local partners to benefit them and the energy sector. #WeEffectChange #Agrivotaics #SolarGrazing #Sheep
