Dr. Stuart Mendel, NEOFIX project director and affiliate professor at Baldwin Wallace University, testified before the Aviation and Aerospace Committee at the Ohio Statehouse in support of HB 149. Dr. Mendel highlighted the bill's potential for Ohio's unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) market, focusing on public safety, emergency response, and commercial uses. Emphasizing adherence to existing laws, he suggested expanding the law enforcement operations described in the bill to include better dispatching resources through improved situational awareness with UAS. Stuart C Mendel of the Baldwin Wallace University Technology Partnerships Initiative and the NEOFIX, the Northeast Ohio Flight Information Exchange, recently participated in the #advancedairmobility (AAM) Multistate Collaborative meeting. Representatives from 18 states met at the #ohio Unmanned Systems Center of Excellence in Springfield to discuss how to harmonize policy and infrastructure to support the nationwide development of AAM. Stuart was on a panel about unmanned traffic management (UTM) and explained how NEOFIX’s digital data-sharing system is set to enhance drone operations in #cleveland and Cuyahoga County, fostering a safer and more efficient airspace. https://lnkd.in/gagh-gJq
