One year with Openhouse! I’ve spent my career exploring the intersection of design, hospitality, and product development—starting in events, dabbling in interiors, and furniture buying, then expanding into product design and development at Indigo, where I learned from the best in the industry (shout out to my sweet mentor and friend Zayd K). My background also runs deep in the restaurant world (from ancient history 😏), where I first learned how thoughtful details shape an experience. That foundation still drives my work today, as I focus on surface and product design for unique wellness brands, hospitality, and fitness retail–creating high-quality, experience-driven goods for boutique hotels and brands 💫 At Openhouse, I get to bring all of this together—leading at the intersection of design and development to craft products that are thoughtful, beautiful, and YES, I'll say it: cool. From bespoke capsule artwork to functional essentials, my focus is on making design-forward objects that feel effortless yet intentional. Founder pinch-me moment: Delivering 500 units of custom product to NBC SNL for their 50th-anniversary special episode & after-party at the Plaza. 🌟 When we got the deal - I knew Lloyd Ellman and I had to be there in person. Watching the special this past Sunday evening was incredible knowing Openhouse was a small part of a big evening filled with comedy legends and a star-studded guest list. "The Customer is Always Right" I've come to believe differently when building Openhouse. We're a B2B product design company that makes customized product lines for businesses across hospitality, wellness, media, tech, and more. We've found success by having an internal design perspective that we've become known for. In the competitive world of custom-branded products, there are incumbent swag (lowest quality) and merch (medium quality) providers. I believe the world does not need more cheap throwaway products. However, there is an opportunity to turn strong brand equity businesses into proper brands (highest quality). For example, you'd never imagine the Ritz Carlton ordering from Custom Ink - thankfully so. I don't believe we could build a business in this industry saying, "We can make whatever you want, and we can design whatever you want". Rather, when we meet with prospective partners, they rely on us to make design decisions & recommend products their brand loyalists will love. They don't want more slap-your-logo-here products on foam trucker hats, and I didn't aim to build a business making the problem worse. Instead, "Openhouse" on the label has become a statement of quality. Simply put - we exist to make products people want. And our partners come to us relying on us to make those decisions for them and their brands. It's incredibly powerful when businesses can turn their community into brand loyalists and we're excited to continue producing products worth talking about.
