🥳 Byword turns 2 today! In the last 2 years we've put out over 2.7 million articles, 5 billion words of content, and a whole ton of SEO traffic. But AI SEO is a very different space today from what it was back in 2022, and Byword is changing to stay ahead of the game. We're making some big changes under the hood, to take Byword from an article generator to a fully fledged SEO assistant. Check out some of the backstory to Byword, and also where we're heading over the next year here: https://lnkd.in/eUtrX5Q4

I've spent the last 3 months rewriting Byword from the ground up. Why? As the use of article generators has grown, results pages have become more and more competitive. Simply having a relevant article isn't enough in 2024, when the costs of producing content have fallen dramatically and anyone can produce relevant content. SEO is a fundamentally competitive game, and to win rankings you need to have content that's better than your competition. To give Byword users an edge, I wanted to go back to the drawing board, and think about how they could build content that stands out on any SERP. The two main solutions here were: 🅰️ Help them build content that's unique, and that they can't get from any other tool 🅱️ Help them build content that's tailored to their site, their brand, and which keeps users moving through the site The result of this is genuinely the biggest feature launch since Byword first came out: Custom Articles! This goes far beyond a simple one-click builder. You can now build entirely customisable article templates, from a range of configurable blocks, and generate limitless articles from them. You can even import custom data that's relevant to your brand. That means: 📣 Tailored CTAs/offers/links etc for each individual article 🖼️ Custom imagery and blocks inside your article 🦄 Totally differentiated articles For the first time, you can even upload external knowledge sources, letting you import content from PDFs, podcasts, YouTube videos, or external URLs, giving you absolute control over Byword's engine. You can start creating custom articles today in your account: https://byword.ai/custom

📢 Byword 2.0 is coming... Here's what's happened in SEO over the past year, and why 2.0 is going to change the game (again). With the rise of AIxSEO article generators, more and more articles on SERPs are being written by AI. These tools all differ somewhat, but it's lead to less differentiation in content, and made it difficult to stand out from the crowd. We've been adding features in Byword to help differentiate content: - Interlinking - Custom tones of voice - Custom CTAs - Inline imagery But we felt the next big step needed something more, and with that we've gone back to basics and rewritten our core article writing engine. The result: ✨ Custom article templates ✨ Connected to your data ✨ Delivering unique, programmatic content, like never before We'll soon be launching the ability to build custom article templates with a drag-and-drop builder, so you can build your articles *exactly* as you want them. You can have as little or as much control as you like over each section; precisely tailoring each heading with {variables} or just giving Byword a plain-English prompt to work from. You can then upload custom datasets that you connect to your templates. This can be as simple as a list of cities, that you want to generate articles about. It can be much more advanced though, and you can upload huge spreadsheets with tens of columns of unique data to feed into your articles. What does this mean? Highly tailored content, that's entirely unique to your brand and the data you have at your fingertips - stuff that no other competitor or article generator could write. What's next? 📩 We're launching this as an invite-only beta to select users imminently. 🖼 We're upgrading our image model to coincide with this. 📄 We're also adding the ability to upload custom documents (.doc, .pdf, plaintext) to give more context to articles. This is the future of SEO. Watch this space.

Started an SEO agency in 2019. Making $20M/yr for our clients.

It's almost 2 years since my first LinkedIn post. 282 posts later, I've used LinkedIn to generate 30M+ views and scale my businesses to 7 figures. Here’s how things unfolded: Early 2022: Spent 7 months procrastinating getting started. Mental block after mental block. August 2022: Pushed through the mental blocks and published my first LinkedIn post. It got 320K views and 4K new followers. November 2022: Doubled my SEO agency's revenue and hired 2 full-time team members and 10 freelancers, all from LinkedIn. January 2023: Travelled to Medellin, Colombia to spend 2 weeks with 4 people I met on LinkedIn. Moved there for 5 months soon after. April 2023: Launched Byword (my AI SEO tool). My post about the tool went viral and we surpassed all targets after only a few weeks. July 2023: Merged my SEO agency with Contact Studios, I met the CEO on LinkedIn 8 months earlier. September 2023: Launched Kleo (my free LinkedIn tool) with my childhood friend and a guy I met on LinkedIn. Since then: - Building cool stuff - Meeting incredible people - Growing past 75K total users It all started with that first LinkedIn post in 2022. I’m convinced that writing online every day is the best habit you can develop. It can change so much in just a few months. If you're on the fence, I urge you to take that first step and start writing. Just see where it takes you. PS. I'm starting The LinkedIn Creator: A free weekly newsletter for people creating content on LinkedIn. It's the newsletter I wish I'd had when I first started. Every Sunday, you'll get: - 5 post templates with real examples and breakdowns - 3 profile examples designed to convert customers - 1 creator backstory how they went from 0-hero Join here: https://lnkd.in/eZ8jEitj

Our AI content thrived in the March Google update: Before: 25.6K/mo SEO traffic After: 54.1K/mo SEO traffic That's a 112% monthly traffic increase since the March Google update began 56 days ago. Here's how we made it algorithm-proof:

We analysed 5,000 websites to see the true impact of the March 2024 Google update. "Only AI content is being targeted" "There are significant drops in traffic" "Smaller sites lost traffic to larger sites" I've heard it all. But here's what the data shows:
