Two Plymouth lakes were recently removed from the state's impaired waters list, an achievement that followed more than two decades of efforts by the City of Plymouth, area property owners and the watershed district. Check out the recent article by the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources about all the lakes in line to be delisted very soon! This includes Bald Eagle Lake and Golden Lake located in our watershed. We're excited to say Fish Lake in Maple Grove is among the water bodies slated to be removed from the state's impaired waters list in 2024 as a result of water-quality improvements supported by Clean Water Funds from BWSR! An alum treatment achieved the necessary phosphorus reductions in the lake, a popular swimming and fishing spot bordered by Fish Lake Regional Park. Once prone to algae blooms, it was listed as impaired for aquatic recreation in 2008. Partners include #ThreeRiversParkDistrict, City of Maple Grove, Minnesota, the Fish Lake Area Residents Association and the Elm Creek WMC. The Star Tribune has the story.
