Today we bid "fair winds and following seas" to C-SPAN Founder Brian Lamb on his last day in the office. Brian founded C-SPAN 45 years ago and hosted the network's first call-in show on October 7, 1980. This morning on C-SPAN's Washington Journal, we ended today's program by airing that first call. Brian will continue to host his podcast, Booknotes+, which you can listen to here - https://lnkd.in/eEbkzM28 Brian, thank you!

🌟 Congratulations to the entire C-SPAN team for the successful coverage of the 2024 Republican and Democratic National Conventions! Just as we have done for every major political convention since 1984, our team came together to deliver C-SPAN's signature unfiltered coverage across multiple platforms—the only complete, gavel-to-gavel coverage that highlights the people and events defining these key moments in American politics. 🌟 Our teams in Milwaukee and Chicago worked tirelessly across various locations and roles—from on-air sets to arena crews, with support from our Marketing, PR, Engineering, IT, and Field teams. In DC, teams across TV, Radio, Digital, and more planned and executed our coverage with precision, while our Digital Media and Archives teams in Indiana developed incredible content to keep our coverage accessible well beyond the conventions. At the conclusion of both our RNC and DNC coverage, we shared this heartfelt video to recognize the hard work of every team member from DC, Indiana, Milwaukee, and Chicago. Kudos, cheers, and thanks to all! 🙌 While on the ground, we received an outpouring of support from delegates, politicians, volunteers, fellow journalists, and local residents. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, as seen in the many social media posts and comments from those who appreciate our nonpartisan and unfiltered coverage. A huge thank you to our viewers, listeners, donors, and cable industry partners—your viewership and support make this coverage possible. Now we gear up for the debates and election night. Stay tuned for more comprehensive coverage from C-SPAN as we continue our tradition of bringing you every campaign 2024 moment, unfiltered and uninterrupted.
