CEO and Business Owners: the old adage of show me your friends and I will show you your future was true in the past and today. Who do you run with? Where do you go for insights and counsel? Is it typically someone opinion and experience, or truly wise counsel? In the end, "Without consultation and wise advice, plans are frustrated, But with many counselors they are established and succeed" Proverbs 15:22. Come check out C12, meet some new people and find a herd to run with.

If you’re struggling to see the eternal impact of the work you’re doing now, be encouraged: you don’t have to change the context of your work to make Kingdom impact. A timely reminder from Mike Sharrow!

Follower of Jesus, semi-pro whiteboarder, serve as CEO @ C12

A Journey of Identity & Integration I remember the first moment I realized I had a problem - that there was a growing tension between my day job reality and who I thought I was on weekends and evenings as a Christian. I sat at my desk one Friday night after a successful week that felt hollow and lamented. I took out a piece of paper and wrote out things I knew Biblically were true about my identity and purpose in Christ - to be a disciple of Jesus, to make disciples, to be an ambassador of the Jesus Administration, to be a minister of reconciliation, to love God and love people with all of my being. Yeah! That's what the Bible says i'm supposed to be about. This darn job is getting in the way. What do all of these kudos and achievements really matter in light of eternity anyway? "God, if you want me to be more of THESE things, you're going to have to get me out of this Fortune 50 company environment because it takes a lot of time to be successful here and I can't do both." The angel Gabriel did not show up and I did not hear an audible voice from Heaven, but God met me at my desk that night. I distinctly sensed the noise stop and a still, small voice say: 1. If your logo defines your identity, then you don't really understand your identity 2. If you think you have to change your context to be faithful to who you are and what I've called you to do, you don't understand either 3. What if instead of asking me to change where you are, you asked how you should be where you are, how to follow me there? I had no idea HOW to do any of that but realized I had this "sacred/secular" divide in my life. I wasn't like 2 totally different people - I wasn't Dr Jekyll - Mr Hyde kind of crazy. I did view my life in 2 parts though. I thought my work was a place to make money and have a testimony but the real game that mattered was the margins of my life. I failed to see the biblically and historically normative pattern of God anointing, calling and working with business leaders as His agents for impacting the world and the First Commission of the Garden as enduring and holy. I began an odyssey that I see so many have to take. It has inflection points, iterations, and can take years to cycle from head to heart to hands of practical integration. I'm still working it out. When did you begin your journey, or what helped spark your awareness and pursuit of integration? #BaaM
