I've been told it's good to get personal on LinkedIn every once in awhile, so here goes.
In a little less than 40 days, I'll be running the Chicago Marathon, my first ever, to raise money for Little Heroes League.
Little Heroes League is the only life-changing care coordination program embedded at top-ranked Level IV NICUs, that provides free, continuous inpatient and outpatient support to medically-complex babies and their families.
I was introduced to the organization about 5 years ago by my good friend Fletcher Boyle, and have subsequently gotten to know several involved including Brenden Etue, Executive Director and father of Livi, the program's inspiration; Pat Eskew, board member; and, several others who generously donate their time and money to help where its needed most.
When they sent out the call asking for runners, I couldn't say no. Up to that point, I'd never run longer than 15 miles, and hadn't competed in a race of any sort in 15+ years.
The training has been a grind. It's also been a blast. Regardless of how the race goes on October 13, if I can raise both awareness and money for these little heroes, it's all worth it.
If you've read this far, thank you. If this is the first time you're hearing about Little Heroes League, hopefully I have piqued your interest. I'd encourage you to check them out further.
