Tailored Prep is a distinguished microtrend within the Medium-ism style that focuses on transitional design—not too trendy, and not too timeless, it achieves a “just right” balance. Drawing inspiration from Ivy League culture and the refined elegance of classic estates, it’s perfect for those who value a sophisticated yet inviting home environment. With an appreciation of both traditional charm and modern design, Tailored Prep features clean lines, neutral tones and premium materials, such as marble, polished wood and stainless steel, to create spaces of timeless sophistication. Rooms inspired by this trend utilize an elegant and neutral color palette accented with trusted bold hues such as green and blue, and feature thoughtful details and tailored finishes that exude luxury. To see how Tailored Prep can seamlessly merge traditional charm with modern polish, take a look at the curated images from our Design-Craft brand and team of design experts. #DesignTrends #Mediumism #TailoredPrep #DesignCraft

Stepping into a home inspired by the design trend of Medium-ism reflects a striking balance between the clean lines of Minimalism and the vibrant expressions of Maximalism. Two microtrends influenced by Medium-ism are Hygge and Nordic Noir. Both are Scandinavian-inspired trends that embrace creating cozy and inviting spaces. Hygge design emphasizes coziness, warmth and comfort, creating a space of happiness and relaxation through the use of neutral color palettes, simple design and natural materials like wood and stone. Nordic Noir also embraces coziness, but adds in a new dimension of darkness and mystery. Adding dark colors to Hygge’s warm neutral palette and natural materials adds dimension, creating a space of both calm and drama. Take a look at these inspirational kitchen images from our Design-Craft and Medallion brands to see how both Hygge and Nordic Noir styles can beautifully enhance your home. #Mediumism #Hygge #NordicNoir #DesignCraft #Medallion

Design trends influence how home designers work with their clients to create beautiful and functional spaces that reflect their style. Tressa Samdal, Director of Trends and Innovation at Cabinetworks Group, and her team emphasize the importance of understanding these evolving trends to create spaces that truly reflect homeowners' personalities. We’ve talked about macro trends Minimalism and Maximalism – now we share insights about Medium-ism. Medium-ism is an exciting approach to home design that fosters a balance between Minimalism and Maximalism, combining practicality with style to bring comfort and versatility. By embracing this trend, homeowners can create spaces that allow for simplicity and abundance, the ability to adapt as preferences change, and remain budget-conscience to invest in quality pieces while enjoying trendy decor. Key features of Medium-ist interiors include the use of neutral colors with pops of color and sleek furniture – and decor that is also comfortable. Rooms are often clutter-free yet feel welcoming and cozy, including a mix of high-quality items and cherished decor pieces. Overall, Medium-ism home design blends current trends with enduring styles to stay fashionable for years. Within the broader Medium-ism trend, there are several microtrend styles including Hygge and Nordic Noir, Tailored Prep, Vogue Crafted and Generational Farmhouse. Today we're highlighting another stop on our "Think Differently - Design Beyond the Predictable" roadshow, held on Long Island, New York in late September. Kitchen designers came from across the region to immerse themselves in the latest style and color trends, explore innovative new design solutions, and sharpen their skills. These two-day events always provide such a meaningful opportunity to share ideas and best practices among peers, draw inspiration to "think differently," and build new friendships along the way. Our own product, design and trend experts facilitate these events, and with each stop, we're energized by the talents, insights and connections we're able to share with one another. We're committed to investing in the design professionals who help us build life into the kitchen, and we'd like to say THANK YOU to the designers who have taken the time to join us. We're looking forward to sharing recaps of our other events in Charleston and Nashville, so stay tuned!

On September 27, Cabinetworks Group was honored to receive the Innovative Spotlight Award from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s Colorado Green Business Network Program. Our Aurora, Colorado manufacturing facility earned the award by achieving substantial energy savings, while addressing a capacity need, through the installation of an advanced on-demand dust collection monitoring system. By installing this monitoring system, we expanded the capacity of our existing dust collection infrastructure and eliminated the need to install a second system—which would have consumed about 50,000 KWH/yr of electricity. With this leading-edge technology, we’ve not only solved a business need by expanding our dust collection capacity; we’ve also created a cleaner environment for our employees and reduced our energy consumption. In addition to the installation of this new system, our Aurora team has also converted to 100% LED interior and exterior lighting at the facility. These projects have significantly reduced energy consumption while improving the employee experience. We’re proud to say that this facility has been recognized by the Colorado Green Business Network as a Certified Green Business since 2008, and we thank the Network for this special award!

New Product Alert! Our KraftMaid brand is excited to have launched an on-trend collection of fresh design solutions. KraftMaid’s latest painted finish—Carbon—is a rich, handsome grey that makes a statement in any space. And a new, designer-requested Shaker door style with narrow rails lends itself well to a clean, understated aesthetic, while a second new door style with stepped detail around the recessed center panel adds distinctive depth and character to a room. On top of these style-focused additions, KraftMaid has launched clever new and improved storage solutions and the innovative SureMount Installation System—a hinge design that allows installers to remove and reattach cabinet doors without tools for a quicker, easier installation. Understanding design trends allows us to develop inspirational spaces that connect people with their homes and create an impression for visitors. Welcome to the design style Grandmillennial. A microtrend within Maximalism where the design philosophy emphasizes “more is more,” Grandmillennial celebrates everything that reminds us of our grandmothers—antiques, doilies, needlepoint, gardening and more. The term Grandmillennial unites two different generations—grandparents and millennials. It blends vintage, traditionally classic elements with contemporary flair to create cozy, charming and inviting spaces. Elements may include vintage-inspired decor, printed patterns, heirloom furniture and a touch of nostalgia. This mix of old and new creates a timeless yet contemporary aesthetic. Explore Grandmillennial-inspired spaces and learn how to create this warm and delightful haven in your home. #DesignTrends #Maximalism #Grandmillennial

Staying attuned to design trends is crucial for successful product innovation, especially in the kitchen space. Dark Academia, as a Maximalism microtrend, beautifully intertwines the pursuit of knowledge with a sense of nostalgia and scholarly romanticism, creating an enchanting atmosphere of gothic and old-world charm. In kitchens and other spaces inspired by this aesthetic, rich color palettes of burgundy, deep blue, black and browns set a sophisticated backdrop. Luxurious fabrics like velvet, leather and heavy wool add warmth and depth. Vintage items play a crucial role, evoking a sense of history and scientific study. Bookshelves and glass displays are often used to showcase not only literary treasures, but also curated design pieces, hobbies and artwork. The overall design fosters an environment that exudes sophistication and intellectual engagement. Step into this Dark Academia-inspired space, and you'll feel the mystique and elegance. #DesignTrends #Maximalism #DarkAcademia
