We’ve seen some troubling over-generalizations lately in response to news about Black-led community organizations. This threatens to undermine essential initiatives like San Francisco’s Dream Keeper Initiative, which has made a lasting impact by supporting nonprofits that serve Black communities. Read more from San Francisco Foundation's CEO Fred Blackwell on why it's important for philanthropic organizations to reaffirm our commitment to equity and continue supporting the critical work being done. https://lnkd.in/g7DmdrZz

Six years ago today, the life of Chinedu Valentine Okobi - a devoted son, father, brother, and poet - was tragically cut short by state violence. Today and always, we honor Chinedu’s beautiful life and legacy. We are sending love and care to all of Chinedu’s loved ones, especially his mother, Amaka, and sister, Ebele, with whom we are proud to partner on a sabbatical program established in Chinedu’s name. The elimination of state violence against our communities is core to achieving freedom, and we won’t stop working until that is the reality for every Black family in this country.
