Cal Poly's Bailey College of Science and Mathematics is where science, mathematics, the art of teaching and California's Central Coast intersect. Learn by Doing The university's Learn by Doing philosophy means our students can work with their professors on everything from laser mapping of ocean floors to atomic particle colliders to statistical analysis for real-world research projects. Close Relationships The key difference offered by our college is the relationships we build. The Cal Poly College of Science and Mathematics offers a small family atmosphere at the heart of a large, nationally known and selective university. Here, our students have an educational experience like no other. We care about our students, and we take pride in their success. Small Classes Our small classes and labs are all taught by faculty — faculty committed to serving as mentors and creating a close environment. Our college developed the 25-35 study program to help our students excel academically. Majors We offer degrees in the sciences of biology, chemistry, kinesiology, and physics as well as mathematics and statistics. We're also home to the university's undergraduate Liberal Studies program for future teachers, and Cal Poly's post-baccalaureate School of Education. The connections in our college are creating a new generation of teachers and administrators with an edge in science, technology, and math as well as languages and the arts.

Cal Poly Kinesiology and Public Health faculty member Joni Roberts has been named among the cohort honored in this year's Boston Congress of Public Health’s 40 Under 40 Public Health Catalyst Awards: https://lnkd.in/gTKudneG. In her academic and advocacy roles, Dr. Roberts seeks to better the lives of others, especially women of color. The award announcement described her as an "esteemed academic and a leading advocate in the fight against health and education disparities." Roberts focuses her research on understanding how social factors influence health and identifying practical solutions to address these inequalities. Her work includes examining the complex relationship between sexual health, physical activity, and interventions for obesity. As a side note, she has published journal articles with Cal Poly students in the BCPH Review (formerly Harvard Public Health Review). Congrats Dr. Roberts!! Amid the buzz of the Olympics, a Bailey College alum, Nate Ngo (Mathematics, '10) is helping the U.S. Men’s National team compete in Indoor Volleyball, tracking and analyzing statistics and scouting for the team.
