Loved this fun event at Black Market Cheese Co. with the SLO County Farm Trail folks! It was an evening of sipping and grazing, with savory bites by Chef Candice (using local ingredients from the SLO County Farm Trail), delicious farmstead cheeses by Black Market Cheese Co, and gelato from Leo Leo Gelato. And a cinnamon olive oil pour-over by The Groves on 41. What a showcase of our abundant, rich agricultural offerings here in SLO CAL - thank you, FARMstead ED! We saw how the cheese is made, met the sheep, mingled with other makers and growers, and hung out in the garden at Reve de Mouton, a farm and inn located in Paso Robles, where sheep, goats, chickens, ducks, and alpacas are raised. Owners Evan and Kristy chose the name to embody their dream of owning a sheep farm and producing cheese while creating a haven where animals are cared for with kindness and respect. FARMsteadED aims to bring people together with locally grown, as well as shine a light on small family farm issues. Rising costs of labor and supplies, combined with stricter government regulations, make it harder for small farms to stay afloat. Visit the SLO Farm Trail and support local!
