  • CDPH Launches “Facts Fight Fentanyl” Campaign The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is launching the “Facts Fight Fentanyl” campaign to combat overdoses and save lives. This statewide campaign focuses on education, raising awareness, and how to prevent overdose from fentanyl. The campaign will continue through June 2025. The “Facts Fight Fentanyl” campaign provides education with critical information about the dangers of fentanyl and how life-saving tools such as naloxone can save lives. This campaign is part of the CDPH’s Overdose Prevention Initiative which supports substance-use prevention programs through evidence-based tools and strategies, public awareness and education, and promoting safe and effective prescribing and treatment practices throughout the state. The CDPH continues to increase awareness about fentanyl and opioid overdose prevention as many Californians are still unaware of the dangers of fentanyl. Pharmacists can support this campaign by educating patients on the dangers of fentanyl, recognizing the signs and symptoms of fentanyl overdose, and the proper use of naloxone to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. As of 2023, the FDA approved naloxone nasal spray to be available over-the-counter in the United States. View the CDPH’s news release here: https://lnkd.in/gcv9ZWRC
