Senator Catherine Blakespear is currently seeking a Capitol Director for her office. The Capitol Director is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Sacramento office, executing legislative goals, and overseeing strategic planning. The ideal candidate should possess a strong legislative acumen, familiarity with the organizational structure and policies of state government, and demonstrated network of relationships. The candidate must have a minimum of 3-6 years of experience in legislative affairs and budget management, along with excellent oral and written communication skills. A robust background in policy and legislative processes is essential.   Successful candidates will demonstrate exceptional time management skills, the ability to excel under tight deadlines, and a collaborative approach to teamwork. As Capitol Director, responsibilities will include the oversight of daily operations within Senator Blakespear's Sacramento office, manage legislative initiatives, advising on key legislative and policy issues, and overseeing the execution of strategic legislative planning efforts. The Capitol Director will also analyze legislation, offer policy consultations in areas of interest to Senator Blakespear, conduct research, and contribute to the formulation of legislation.   Additionally, the Capitol Director will be accountable for advising Senator Blakespear, the Chief of Staff, and the broader staff on opportunities to advance legislative goals and navigate complex environments and stakeholders. They will be expected to provide updates on capitol-based matters during staff meetings.
