State of the Art Substance Misuse Prevention and Early Intervention Curricula

About us

Unlike traditional prevention programs, we challenge participants to reflect and challenge thoughts and behaviors, to begin the process of change. We offer a compilation of evidence-based curricula comprised of Beginner Education, Intermediate Intervention, and Intensive Interventions for individuals who experience challenges from substances. Our programs are designed for use in for elementary, middle and high schools, universities, community mental health centers, and for justice involved individuals through jails and corrections.

  • One of our most common feedback comments we receive on our post-test surveys are mentions of how students dread taking the mandatory class assigned to them by their probation officer, judge, or school, and they are surprised at how much they enjoyed the class and how much they learned about substances and themselves!

      +1
  • We want to empower individuals who struggle with substance use, mental health issues, trauma, and more, to make long-lasting, impactful life changes! Calla Collaborative Health was created to help individuals and groups get to the root causes of their substance use and mental health issues before they lead to disorders and devastation. We offer early intervention evidence-based curriculum for professionals to teach to others in their communities, allowing our curriculum to be used far and wide and our reach extending to many communities! We’d love to talk to you about how Calla’s curricula could be used in your agency, school district, correctional facility, and more. Email us today to set up a time to talk more!

  • We complement attorneys’ work with the services we provide! We offer a state approved substance use education program called Get S-M-A-R-T that helps people going through the criminal justice system with substance use charges such as OWI, repeat OWI, possession of THC, etc. We are able to do assessments and, in most cases, get the client through our program before they even go to court - and provide certificates and a summary of attendance to attorneys. Our program is evidence-based, affordable, and supports clients even before they have been to court. Currently, we receive referrals from local attorneys that have really enjoyed the collaboration they have with us as it benefits them in their pleas. Also, through a partnership with the State we are also able to offer funding to clients that have misdemeanors, live in Indiana and have financial need.

  • While there are other programs and classes available, what sets Get S-M-A-R-T apart is that the instructors abide by a set of principles to not only engage clients on a personal and interpersonal level, but to hold the instructors to the expectation of treating all clients with respect, fairness, and accountability. Our instructor principles are: 1) Validate without judgment 2) Encourage participants to challenge each other 3) Reward self-responsibility 4) Practice self-awareness and mindfulness

  • Last week, we met with Purdue University's Office of Students Rights and Responsibilities (OSRR). We brought them little semester survival kits and an update on how Purdue students are doing in our Get S-M-A-R-T program. When students get in trouble with a drug or alcohol related incident at Purdue, they are referred to Calla for an evaluation and our early intervention program, Get S-M-A-R-T. We hear over and over how reluctant students are to attend the program, but then they are pleasantly surprised at how much they learn, grow and actually enjoy the program! We were happy to report to OSRR that 98% of students agreed that the exercises provided in our program were beneficial to them, and 96% of students agreed that our program helped reduce their chance of developing a substance use disorder! We're proud of and grateful for our ongoing partnership with Purdue!
