#ElectionDay is around the corner (November 5)! 🗳️ Today, we gathered with our incredible partners in San Francisco to urge Californians to vote YES on Prop 4! As Rachel Norton, our Executive Director, said, ‘Proposition 4 gives us a choice to protect our future and what makes California special.’ Our state parks are treasures to protect, and now is the time to act. Join us in protecting and preserving California’s iconic landscapes, watersheds, and over 800 miles of coastline. Vote #YesOnProp4!

Incredible — thank you to all organizations, volunteers, racers, and friends who came to celebrate this incredible park! Congratulations, Dorothy, for receiving the Golden Bear Award! 💛
#SundaySpotlight‼️ As a pioneer, Dorothy Benjamin has accomplished a lot of firsts in her legendary career including implementing the Allensworth bicycle interpretive project, cellphone tours, LCD projectors and so much more throughout California State Parks. For decades, Steven Ptomey M.A. RPA has been a part of Dorothy’s groundbreaking projects and initiatives at Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park, and highlighted some of these accomplishments during exclusive behind the scenes footage from her receiving the Golden Bear Award at the Annual Allensworth Rededication Celebration. #LiveTheParksLife

Our latest blog shares an inspiring program run out of California State Park’s Colorado Desert District – the Native American Conservation Crew! This program helps achieve many goals: rebuilding relationships with Native nations, creating a more inclusive park community, aiding in wildfire resilience efforts, and building valuable career paths for Native youth. Due to rising sea levels, up to 75% of California's beaches could disappear by 2100. Our coastal parks are at risk, but you can make a difference! Donate today, and Edison International will match your gift dollar-for-dollar, up to $50,000 until October 21, to help fund critical adaptation projects and protect these iconic landscapes. 👉 Double your impact: https://ow.ly/u7Oh50TEFqG. #CAStateParks #California

🌟 Legislative Victory! 🌟 We're excited to share that AB 2440 has been signed into law! This important bill brings California State Parks into California's 30x30 initiative, ensuring equitable access to the outdoors and strengthening reporting requirements as we work to conserve 30% of our lands and coastal waters by 2030. At California State Parks Foundation, we believe achieving our climate goals, including the 30x30 target, will require greater investments in state parks. This bill is a key step toward making that happen! ➡️ Learn more about the bills we support: https://lnkd.in/eKE_7uuY

At San Bruno Mountain State Park, you can catch views of many surrounding state parks (including Mount Diablo in the distance). But there’s just as much to see looking down at the ground! Our Development team recently spent a day in the park with San Bruno Mountain Watch and visited the Test Plot, Inc. site established with funding from @calparks. Thank you to everyone for the incredible tour! This site hosts an ongoing experiment to see which native plants will thrive under the eucalyptus understory, with fallen leaves providing mulch. This is one way that the legacy of community activism and involvement, which started with efforts to save the mountain from potential development, continues to thrive.

Government processes can be complex, but they don’t have to be confusing. If you’ve ever been curious about how park units receive their name and what different unit “types” mean (like what makes a state park different from a state recreation area), we have the blog for you! 👉 Learn all about the park designation and classification process at https://lnkd.in/gPY9sgCS.

ICYMI, Mount Diablo State Park now has 67 bike turnouts! 🚲 🎊 We recently celebrated the completion of the newest 22 bike turnouts made possible by the advocacy and generosity of our members and donors! This event was a touching tribute to member Joe Shami, who left the initial funding for these bike turnouts to California State Parks Foundation as part of his estate. “Although he is not with us today, we know Joe would be pleased that his generous gift is making Mount Diablo safer for bicyclists to enjoy” said Randy Widera, Director of Programs.
