🏆 2024 Calendar Image Contest - Congratulations to October winner Maria Angels Subirana and Irena Vardić Smrzlić, Université de Pau et des Pays de l'Adour. Dentitruncus truttae, an intestinal parasite of fish, can act as a bioindicator of environmental conditions, reflecting pollutant exposure of fish. In this study, correlative NanoSIMS and TEM imaging was used to localize trace metal localization in the trunk spines of Dentitruncus truttae of brown trout from the Krka River in Croatia. #NanoSIMS #microbiology #metalpollution

Researchers from the Nice Institute of Chemistry (Institut Chimie Nice), with analytical support from David SUHARD of the French Institute of Radioprotection and Nuclear Safety (IRSN), have employed Dynamic Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (D-SIMS) to investigate uranium accumulation in marine mussels.
