The success of this model of care continues to be demonstrated year after year. In spite of on-going society-wide economic challenges, the state’s opioid crisis, an increase in the number of children receiving out-of-home services statewide, and flat funding, our network, and tremendous community partnerships have allowed Camelot to continue our forward-thinking approach. Today, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey of my son, RD, and the remarkable young man he has become. Watching him develop a relentless work ethic and a deep sense of pride in all that he does has been one of the greatest joys of my life. RD has faced more challenges than most, both before he became part of our family and since. Yet, he has never let obstacles stand in his way. His determination, resilience, and unwavering spirit are qualities I deeply admire, and they have served him well in every aspect of his life. While many in their 20s are still finding their path, RD is already making a significant impact, working for four premier organizations in the Tampa market. This past Sunday, he was given the opportunity to organize, coordinate, and lead a significant part of the ‘show’ portion of the Lakeland Flying Tigers (Detroit Tigers Minor League Baseball) game. RD took the reins and coordinated with six other teams, ensuring a seamless and memorable event. He handled everything with the professionalism, dedication, and passion that I’ve come to expect from him. This experience is a reminder of the importance of instilling a strong work ethic and pride in our endeavors, both personally and professionally. RD’s journey continues to inspire me, and I have no doubt that he will continue to break through barriers and exceed expectations. 📣 Camelot Community Care is proud to celebrate Dylan Chandler, who received the Youth/Young Adult Leadership Award at the recent Florida Coalition for Children's annual conference in Ponte Vedra! 🏆 More than 600 attendees gathered for the "Rise and Thrive" conference, July 21-23, 2024, which featured a keynote address by Jack Brewer of the Brewer Foundation. Brewer, an ordained minister with expertise in global economic development, sports, and finance, was appointed by the White House to the U.S. Commission on the Social Status of Black Men and Boys. Awards were a highlight of the conference, recognizing outstanding contributions in various categories.
