A new report from Candid, GivingTuesday, and Network for Good, takes a deep dive into eight years of giving data. Here are four takeaways fundraisers should know as we ramp up to giving season. 1) A handful of major donors and large grantmakers skew the data; take that into consideration when planning. 2) Understanding why donors give, especially at higher levels, can be a key factor in securing large, transformative contributions. 3) Get familiar with donor types and grantmaker sizes; these factors impact what types of causes they are more likely to fund. 4) The economy has an influence on giving by donors and funders, and understanding the trends can give you a leg up.
