Community Action Partnership of Orange County (CAP OC) is excited to share that our Chief Development Officer LaShanda Maze has been nominated for the 2024 Orange County Business Journal’s Women in Business Awards! As a member of CAP OC’s leadership team, LaShanda coordinates agency efforts to secure federal, state, and local grant funding, as well as private donations, to support pivotal programs such as the OC Food Bank, OC Diaper Bank, three Family Resource Centers and our many wraparound services. She also led the agency's rebranding efforts in 2020 and continues to build awareness across Orange County. Earlier today we welcomed state representatives to our Anaheim Independencia Family Resource Center (AIFRC) to celebrate the recent state funding success for the OC Diaper Bank! Thanks to the tremendous support of Senator Tom Umberg and Assemblymember Avelino Valencia we were able to secure $9 million to be distributed throughout the state of California to fund 11 diaper bank programs. Thanks to additional philanthropic support from Sun Family Foundation and First 5 Orange County, Community Action Partnership of Orange County received the necessary additional dollars needed to support our program at full capacity. This tremendous effort is a true testament to the power of community action, and public and private partnership. We are truly grateful for every dollar donated to ensure Orange County families continue to have access to diapers at no cost. If you would like to learn more about the OC Diaper Bank and how you can support our efforts, please visit capoc.org/diaperbank today! #OCDiaperBank #ThankYou #Funding #SustainingOperations #Success #AddressingImmediateNeeds #PovertyEndsHere

Yesterday, we were proud to join the California Association of Food Banks and our regional partners in hosting a press conference presenting pivotal information about the state of food insecurity across Southern California. As a coalition of leaders, Southern California food bank directors shared a collective call to action, encouraging everyone from legislators to residents to take action in the fight to end food insecurity. During the event, our OC Food Bank Director Mark Lowry joined Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County’s CEO Claudia Bonilla Keller to share the challenges and successes we are experiencing here in Orange County as well as our work to unite regional efforts to tackle barriers together. We were thrilled to be a part of this important event and extend our gratitude to every leader in attendance working tirelessly to address food insecurity in California: California Association of Food Banks, Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, Central City Neighborhood Partners, Westside Food Bank, Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County, Eunisses Hernandez, Abigail Marquez #FightingFoodInsecurity #CommunityLeaders #OCFoodBank #PartnersinAction #PovertyEndsHere
