Our OC Food Bank partners play a pivotal role in our ability to serve Orange County families. FOCUS North America has been an active leader in this effort since January 2011 and continues to serve as dedicated partners. Today, Focus North America operates two key locations: one in Westminster, in collaboration with the Westminster School District, and another in Fountain Valley, partnering with Waymakers, to provide essential food resources to families in need. Read what the Focus North America team had to say about our ongoing partnership: “Our collaboration with the OC Food Bank makes a significant impact in the lives of our clients. The working poor families we serve do not have food security and may even be on the brink of homelessness. Our ability to access much needed food through the TEFAP program results in families being able to nourish their children and face the challenges life throws at them with more energy and hope." Thank you, Focus North America, for your continued collaboration and commitment to our mission. We are grateful for you! #PowerofPartnerships #Food2Community #OCFoodBank #Partners #AddressingImmediateNeeds #PovertyEndsHere

We are thrilled to bring this opportunity to our CAP OC community! Thank you Dr. Seymour and Providence for your support!
GusNIP grantee highlight alert! 🚨 We are delighted to share how Community Action Partnership of Orange County, located in Garden Grove, CA, is making waves with their innovative program. On April 3, “Walk with Dr. Seymour” was launched at Ponderosa Park in Anaheim, CA, which gave their PPR participants a chance to walk with a physician. 🏥 🥑 Combining nutrition education with physical activity: 🏃 To begin, Dr. Seymour gave a 15-minute chat on MyPlate and the 5 food groups, while emphasizing some key points participants had already been learning in their nutrition education offerings. Afterward, along with Dr. Seymour, participants walked around the park for 45 minutes, engaging in conversations with both the doctor and each other. 💪 Program impact 💥 Participants commented that they didn’t even realize how far they had walked, because they were having fun. Dr. Seymour also enjoyed interacting with her patients outside of the clinic, and participants have been requesting more events focused on physical activity! 💰Clinic buy-in 🛒 This project is fortunate to have a champion physician, so gaining buy-in from clinic staff was not challenging. Thoughts from program staff 📣 According to Gaby Gregg, Senior Manager of Nutrition Education, “It was a wonderful opportunity to encourage participants to walk for better health and have a chance to engage with Dr. Seymour outside of the clinic in a less intimidating and timebound environment. This greatly benefits the project because it further enhances the community-clinical connection, promoting physical activity, and links diabetic patients with each other.” Join us in celebrating and highlighting this incredible work from Community Action Partnership of Orange County! 🌱 This work is supported by the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture. #NIFAimpacts
