America’s Warrior Partnership, in a joint study with University of Alabama and Duke University, studied death data corroborated by the Department of Defense (DoD) from eight states over a five year period and found that vets take their own lives at a rate 2.4 times greater than previously reported by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), due to undercounting overdoses and seemingly accidental deaths. This raises the veteran suicide rate from about 17 individuals a day (the official estimate released by the Department of Veterans Affairs last year) to 44 veterans a day. Exciting news! Restrictions are being lifted on amyloid PET scan coverage, which can provide early detection of amyloid buildup in the brain that can lead to dementia. Amyloid PET imaging helps differentiate Alzheimer's from other causes of cognitive impairment and helps ensure appropriate medical care and treatment. https://lnkd.in/g3DHDUJm
