Security threats to the very devices we carry everywhere aren’t new, and they aren’t going away. This is exactly why we built #Cape: to offer a secure, privacy-first mobile network designed for today’s escalating security challenges.

I'm proud to share some exciting news about our continued work here at Cape. We successfully helped bring 4G/5G connectivity to the USS Abraham Lincoln during trials for the US Navy in partnership with IT&E - reaching up to 130 miles offshore in Guam. Even better, we achieved data transmission speeds three times faster and with enhanced security compared to traditional systems. 👀 This is a big step forward in offering reliable, high-bandwidth connections offshore, bringing us closer to Cape’s goal of delivering secure, private and resilient communication solutions to the Navy. If you’d like to dig in, check it out here and you know where to find me. https://lnkd.in/e_dywrjK

In light of another wave of Chinese hackers breaching major US telco providers, including AT&T and Verizon, #Cape CEO John Doyle sat down with Virtru CEO John Ackerly and SVP Matthew Howard to discuss network vulnerabilities and improving the nation’s cybersecurity. “Telecommunications networks are critical infrastructure… trusted with our nation’s most sensitive data. We’ve installed really well-defined, very knowable, mandatory backdoors into the infrastructure, and done a poor job of holding the networks accountable [for their safeguarding].” Tune in to the full episode here: https://lnkd.in/eSsWTKrr

“Viewership: Gay,” “Pro-Choice,” “Small Town Shallow Pockets,” “Asian Achievers,” “Working Class,” “Seeking Medical Care,” “Republican.” These are examples of “segments” your mobile carrier has placed you in so advertisers can target you based on sensitive demographic information. The recent AT&T breach exposed sensitive data that could allow hackers to map out your closest relationships—from your spouse and kids to your best friends—based on who you’ve called or texted. See what #Cape CEO John Doyle has to say in #FastCo about what consumers can do to hold telco giants accountable for losing sensitive data, and how you can stay connected without compromise: https://lnkd.in/e5k9AT9h

Today, AT&T announced a major data breach of their communication records from 109M customers. Communication logs can be used to infer who you’ve called (and for how long) or texted, from where and on what device, and other sensitive information. Mobile carriers don’t need to hold onto this information, but they do so anyway, and store it for years to analyze customer usage patterns and sell to ad networks and other third parties. At #Cape, we believe your data belongs to you and you alone. We collect the minimum amount of data required to provide you with our service, and store it for as little time as possible, to avoid the risk of breaches like this from occurring. Stay up to date with all major telco breaches, nationwide, in our Telco Data Breach Timeline. https://lnkd.in/eGu6E9Hd

When you sign up for a cell phone plan with a traditional mobile carrier, the price is rarely as advertised. Our latest blog post sheds light on the hidden costs—in your dollars and in your data—of your monthly cell phone bill, and how #Cape can help you take back control. Our CEO John Doyle said it best: "#Telcos are the original social networks. They connect people, and their business model is premised on monetizing the data they collect in the process. The buyers include third-party aggregators, advertisers, and governments without warrants. It’s a cliche to say about social media networks 'if you aren’t paying for the product, then you’re the product,' but it’s absurd to be monetized as a product when you’re paying a significant bill each month to your mobile carrier. At Cape, we reject the premise that you have to forfeit control of your personal data in order to be connected. We are bringing connection without compromise to the market." https://lnkd.in/dfMuZ2WW
