Milton ravages Florida, but worst fears averted 4 min read October 2024 – Hurricane #Milton made landfall in #Florida during the early hours of Thursday as a Category 3 storm with at least 16 deaths reported and over 3 million residents without power. The #TampaBay region was hit hard by both #Hurricane Milton and the remnants of Hurricane #Helene, which struck less than two weeks earlier. Milton brought peak winds of over 120 mph near Siesta key, with heavy rain and storm surges that swelled as high as 10 feet in some areas.
