Making Capitol Hill a great place to live a long life.
About us
Capitol Hill Village (CHV) is a member-driven, volunteer-based organization that supports older adults who are aging-in-place in our community. With over 440 members -- and growing -- and over 250 volunteers, we engage with older adults to provide fun, knowledge, connection and growth, and a forum through which Village members can share interests and passions with others. We work with volunteers of all ages! We use both peer-to-peer and inter-generational program models to prevent social isolation, promote health, address inequities based on income, race, gender or sexual identity, and give elders the confidence they need to age-in-community on their own terms. 90% of our programs are free and open to the public. We recognize and value what elders contribute to our community every day. When CHV opened in 2007, it was only the second Senior Village in the country. Now CHV is the largest of 13 Senior Villages serving the District of Columbia, one of 75 Senior Villages in the DMV, and one of almost 300 Senior Villages across the United States and elsewhere. CHV was built to serve the Capitol Hill Neighborhood which covers parts of Wards 6, 7 & 8 West of the River, including Eastern Market and Barracks Row, parts of Navy Yard, Rosedale, Hill East, and H Street. Not sure if you're in our footprint? Call us! We'd love to hear from you.
