🌟 Last week I had the pleasure of presenting to Capstone Investment Advisors on cultivating #resilience while working in a business of constant fluctuations. One key takeaway we explored: The impact of labeling emotions. 💡 Emotions can come on strong and sudden, especially in a fast-paced work environment. Research using fMRI brain scans show that labeling feelings reduces activity in the brain's emotional centers, empowering the frontal lobe for clearer problem-solving. 🧠 ✨ No word for what you're feeling? Describing physical sensations, like sweaty palms or a racing heart, can still calm the nervous system. Last month, Capstone hosted a speed networking event in our London office in partnership with The 10,000 Interns Foundation, which helps create opportunities for underrepresented talent in partnership with multinational corporations, professional firms, startups, and public bodies and GAIN UK, which inspires young women to enter the financial sector through inspirational talks and career support/opportunities. It was a great opportunity for participants in both programs to connect with our team, warming up and building confidence for their upcoming internships this summer.

We are pleased to announce the publication of a piece by Capstone’s own Tom Adlard and Tom Leake in the Journal of Portfolio Management’s March 2024 Special Multi Asset Issue. Their article, “Quantifying Portfolio Diversification Benefit via Return Indifference Curves,” details how to quantitatively evaluate the balance between required returns and the diversification potential of new asset classes. Congratulations to our very own Founder & CEO, Paul Britton, who has been named an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the New Year Honours List. Paul is recognized for his dedication and notable contributions to the Tate Americas Foundation, which supports the work of the Tate and its exhibition, scholarship, and education programs. Paul has served as a key advisor and benefactor to Tate for over a decade, particularly in the US, and currently serves as Board Chair. Notably, in 2017 he supported Tate to acquire a major work by the American artist Bruce Nauman, later providing further support to enable Tate to present the first Bruce Nauman exhibition in London in over 20 years. Most recently his efforts extended to supporting the post of the Curator-at-Large for North American Art, a role working to driving forward Tate’s ambition to reflect artistically adventurous and culturally inclusive practices as a truly global museum.
