The Program utilizes Veteran peers to connect Veterans to VA health care and community resources.
About us
The Captain John D. Mason Program aims to save lives by utilizing Veteran peers that go into the community and locate Veterans in need engaging them in VA health services, and other community resources, to live a healthy, productive life. If you, or a Veteran you know, needs assistance in connecting to the VA or other community resources, please contact one of our peer specialists: Mark Flower mflower@mcw.edu Pete Glowinski pglowinski@mcw.edu Peter Borucki pborucki@mcw.edu Program Email: CaptainJohnDMasonProgram@mcw.edu Office: (414) 955-8910 Our Veteran Peers understand what you are going through. They are available to talk through problems and provide ideas to help cope with everyday issues. They can also help you adjust to civilian life or just talk! We work directly with the Veteran Outreach of Wisconsin’s 9-Line Program. Our program is designed to provide you the best peer services, referrals for case management support and connection to VA benefits. We also support the Live Today – Put It Away program which provides locations of firearm retailers and law enforcement locations where a person in crisis can voluntarily store firearms for safe keeping.

Grateful for Powerful Connections with Fellow Veterans I’m so grateful to have connected with Peter Borucki from Veteran Peer Outreach! 🙌🏽 He’s doing incredible work here in Wisconsin, supporting Veterans and helping them navigate their transitions to civilian life through the Veteran Peer Outreach Program. At the Medical College of Wisconsin’s Department of Psychiatry, they’re proud to work alongside organizations like Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin (VOW). With the support of the VA Staff Sergeant Fox Grant, they aim to honor the legacy of SSG Parker Gordon Fox—a dedicated Army sniper instructor who tragically died by suicide in 2020. His life of generosity and kindness continues to inspire us to reach out and save lives through their Captain John D. Mason Veteran Peer Outreach Program. Peter and his team of Veteran Peers are at the heart of this effort, engaging Veterans in need, connecting them with VA health services, case management support, benefits, and other essential community resources. They also provide critical access to crisis resources like the Live Today – Put It Away program, ensuring that those in difficult situations can safely store firearms during times of crisis. It’s so powerful to be aligned with a mission like this, and I’m excited for what’s to come. Keep an eye out for a collaboration between us soon! 💥 In the meantime, you can check out the great work Peter and his team are doing at: https://lnkd.in/g4spcb3f #VeteranSupport #VeteranWellness #MilitaryToCivilian #VeteranResources #Collaboration #TheOptimizedVeteran #VeteranPeerOutreach

On October 10th, let's come together to raise awareness about mental health and support those in need. Recognizing the warning signs of suicide could save a life: - Talking about wanting to die - Feeling hopeless or trapped - Increased substance use - Withdrawing or isolating If you or someone you know needs help, reach out to the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988 (Veterans press 1). Support is available - Don't wait. Reach out. Our Veteran Peer Specialists are here to assist. https://lnkd.in/g2FqdbrU #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealthMatters #suicideprevention #veterans #milwaukee #waukesha #Kenosha #racine #walworthcounty #jeffersoncounty #dontwaitreachout #buddycheck
