From January 2023 to August 2024, they’ve made an outstanding impact and here’s just a glimpse of it: 490 individuals with Limited English Proficiency attended WIOA orientations 225 individuals enrolled into the program 2,500+ career and vocational services provided, helping VIPs achieve their employment goals 110 VIPs secured unsubsidized employment with an average hourly wage of $28 107 VIPs completed short-term training programs, earning industry-recognized certifications Your dedication to empowering individuals and accelerating the human condition through career services is truly inspiring! Today Career TEAM is thrilled to celebrate the promotion of Alyssa Simmons into the role of Executive Director in Pierce County, Washington! Alyssa holds a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies and earned her Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) credential in 2018. Alyssa brings 8 years of experience in workforce development across Washington and South Carolina. Alyssa also has expertise in creating and delivering community programs aimed at helping students and families overcome barriers to success. Throughout her career, Alyssa has held various roles, including Career Advisor, Team Lead, Program Manager, Regional Support Specialist, and now, Executive Director! Alyssa strives to always foster collaboration among staff to achieve shared goals and make a greater impact in the community. She is passionate about empowering teams to provide meaningful support to the communities they serve. Her favorite Core Value is, “We only ask what we are willing to do ourselves.” When she is not working, Alyssa enjoys spending time with her husband and their dog and exploring the beautiful outdoors of the Pacific Northwest! We are so excited to have Alyssa as part of our leadership TEAM and we look forward to seeing the impact she will make in Pierce County!

Meet Jaydon, a former Combat Medic who enrolled in the WIOA Program with Career TEAM with the goal of  transitioning into civilian life and pursuing an in demand career! With the support of his Career Advisor and the Worker Retraining Program, Jaydon completed their Phlebotomy Certification at Bates Technical College. Throughout their journey, Jaydon received vital supportive services, including access to Career EDGE, resume assistance, mentorship, and resources such as an Orca Card, medical scrubs, a laptop, and a bicycle to overcome transportation barriers. After earning their certification, Jaydon transitioned into the Army Reserves, moved back to Texas, and secured a part-time job as an Emergency Medical Technician with Sea World.
