This may be controversial, but we think hiring committees are the answer to hiring better people and here's why... 1. Hiring committees help align the company at every level on what the right profile looks like by bringing a diverse perspective from different departments and roles. This has also been proven to promote fair (unbiased) and thorough evaluation of candidates. 2. They help to create a more informed decision making process, by pooling the groups diverse knowledge and expertise to discuss each candidate's qualification, fit for the role, and long-term potential at the company. 3. Hiring committees by nature are designed to create a stronger candidate evaluation because it allows for an outsiders view from members outside of the department the candidates is interviewing for. Answer the poll below to let us know where you stand! #recruitingthoughts #hiringcommittee #candidateexperience

Wow! Congratulations! Sadly, less and less companies are putting an emphasis on DEI as the market and business financial strain become more difficult. Has anyone else seen this happen?

Yvette Ostolaza has distinguished herself at the highest echelons of law firm practice. An expert in commercial litigation, securities law and regulation, she’s successfully represented clients across industries, from Halliburton and Southwest Airlines to NPR and Zale Corporation. But one of her biggest points of pride is the trail she’s blazing for young attorneys coming up behind her—particularly Latina lawyers, who currently comprise only 2% of the profession. As Sidley Austin’s management committee chair, she’s the first Hispanic female leader of any Am Law 100 firm. #ForbesTopLawyers Read more: https://trib.al/rSr8OFd

Getting laid off sucks. Can we agree? But getting laid off isn’t the end, and it wasn’t anything personal. It’s natural to have a lot of mixed and strong emotions after an experience like that. So it’s so important to stay level headed and calm. Employees often think that their employer owes them a lot of things for everything they’ve done for the company. But guess what, the company doesn’t owe you anything, they’ve already paid you. I know, the truth hurts. I trust that if you’re reading this, you have the capacity to be a mature adult, so listen up. Businesses are in business to make money, and if that means that they have to reduce their workforce to stay in business and make investors happy, they will…even if they don’t want to. Businesses often answer to investors, so they might not have a lot of say themselves. So, I promise that this list will help you know how you can move past the horrible layoff and move forward towards your next career jump. #burningbridges #layoff #layoffs #thinkpositive #bestyearever #careergrowthpro #careergrowth

Crazy idea: instead of laying off your team, break your lease on your office. Save your rent money, pay their salaries, and let them work remotely. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Tips to Help You Lad a Job - How to Make Your Resume Look More Professional Believe it or not putting a picture on your résumé does not make you look more professional. It actually has an opposite effect. It detracts from your experience and work history. As businesses are not allowed to hire based on looks, they may skip you as a candidate just to prevent any sort of danger as to having a bias based on your picture.
