    Don’t take things personally, so do this instead to improve. Taking things personally doesn’t help you grow. Rather, get even with your emotions. Build your emotional intelligence with these tips. ➡ Be Aware Understand your own triggers that could affect you. This can help you respond more thoughtfully. Try journaling or mindfulness practices. ➡ Empathize See the situation from the other person’s perspective. Put yourself in their shoes for a moment. Are they justified in their behavior? ➡ Facts Over Feelings Try to objectively assess if there is any truth to what is being said. If the criticism is valid, use it constructively. Separate facts from emotions. ➡ Detach Yourself Detach yourself from other people’s opinions and feedback. Your value is not defined by what others think. Focus on your own self-approval. ➡ Set Boundaries Distance yourself from toxic people or situations. Step away from situations that build negativity. Establish and maintain healthy boundaries. ➡ Reframe Thoughts Think this way: “They have a different perspective, and that’s okay.” Instead of: “They criticized me because I’m not good enough.” Challenge yourself every day and reframe your thoughts. ➡ Attract More Positivity Engage with people who uplift and support you.     This is how you ask your boss for a raise. It’s never easy asking for a salary hike. But there are ways to go about it. ➡ 1. Prepare Thoroughly Research Salary Ranges: Know the industry standards and the typical salary range for your position in your geographic area. Document Your Achievements: Create a list of your accomplishments, projects you've successfully completed, and any metrics that showcase your contributions. ➡ 2. Choose the Right Time Timing Matters: Find a time when your boss is not stressed or busy. Ideally, align your request with positive events, such as after a successful project or during performance reviews. Schedule a Meeting: Don’t bring up the topic casually. Schedule a formal meeting to discuss your performance and compensation. ➡ 3. Practice Your Pitch Confidence is Key: Practice what you want to say to ensure you can present your case confidently and clearly. Role-Play: Rehearse with a friend or mentor to anticipate possible questions or objections. ➡ 4. Frame the Conversation Positively Start with Gratitude: Express appreciation for the opportunities and support you’ve received. Positive Framing: Instead of focusing on why you need a raise, focus on how you’ve added value to the company. Example: "I’ve really enjoyed the opportunities to take on additional responsibilities and lead projects, which have helped improve our team's efficiency and meet key deadlines." ✅ Sample Script Opening: "Thank you for meeting with me today. I wanted to discuss my role and contributions to the team."     Clever ways to pause during an interview so you can appear more confident. Because you should speak with PURPOSE. Don’t just talk to respond. Talk to win the interviewer. Here’s how you can do that. ➡ 1. Acknowledge the Question Example: "That's a great question." This buys you a few seconds and shows you are engaged and thoughtful. ➡ 2. Repeat or Paraphrase the Question Example: "So, you're asking about my experience with project management?" This not only gives you time to think but also ensures you understood the question correctly. ➡ 3. Ask for Clarification Example: "Could you please clarify what you mean by...?" This can buy time and also ensures that you answer precisely what the interviewer is interested in. ➡ 4. Take a Deep Breath A deep breath can naturally create a short pause and help you calm your nerves, providing a moment to gather your thoughts. ➡ 5. Use Transitional Phrases Examples: "Let me think about that for a moment." or "That's an interesting point. Let me consider it." These phrases indicate that you are thinking carefully about your response. ➡ 6. Sip Water Taking a sip of water is a natural way to pause. Keep a glass or bottle of water handy during the interview. ➡ 7. Summarize Your Thoughts Example: "There are a few things that come to mind..." This allows you to start talking while organizing your thoughts for a more detailed answer. ➡ 8. Think Out Loud Example: "Well, there are a couple of ways to approach this..." This technique can help you structure your thoughts as you speak, making your thinking process transparent to the interviewer. ➡ 9. Jot Down Notes Keep a pen and paper handy. Jotting down a quick note or keyword can help you organize your response and provide a visual cue to help you remember key points. ➡ 10. Pause Intentionally It's perfectly acceptable to take a brief pause without feeling the need to fill the silence immediately.     Mistakes happen. What matters is how you respond to them. Mistakes make you feel like you are about to lose your job. But it’s better to view them as challenges so you can recover, stronger than before. Here’s what you should do. ➡ Step 1: Forgive yourself You’re likely going to feel frustrated, disappointed, or worried. Maybe even embarrassed. Take a moment to acknowledge that you made a mistake. Then forgive yourself. It’s time to move on. ➡ Step 2: Take responsibility If you enter the blame game, then you make things worse for yourself. Hold yourself responsible if the mistake was truly yours. Pro tip: Break down the tasks and activities leading to the failure. It will allow you to evaluate the situation objectively. ➡ Step 3: Reach out to the parties involved Apologize. Don’t sugarcoat it. Don’t try to diminish the effect. Apologize for the mistakes that you did with sincerity. Take responsibility for the things you did. ➡ Step 4: Provide a plan of action Focus on what you should do next. Provide solutions. Ideally, try to give a few options for next steps rather than just one solution. ➡ Step 5: Implement next steps Now take action.
