Empowering Healthcare Interoperability!
About us
Carefluence was the first interoperability platform in the United States to have an ONC certified FHIR-based OpenAPI, back in 2016. Carefluence has been working with FHIR since its early days in 2013 and built its own server, platform, and a workbench of tools for standards-based interoperability. Unlike open source code that is available for developer exploration, Carefluence offers a full-fledged readymade and ONC compliant FHIR platform that is ready to use. The Carefluence Platform was designed to demystify interoperability allowing communication between dissimilar systems and bringing healthcare communities together. By removing the barriers of technology differences that hinder collaboration, healthcare communities can save time and costs on data portability and workflow interoperability across healthcare systems. The Carefluence Platform lets the customer drive interoperability requirements with custom built applications that the community or health system really needs. Applications developed and integrated with the Carefluence platform enable healthcare systems to share secure data in a meaningful context for effective care processes. If you are hospital, or a Health Information Exchange, or a digital health platform (Telemedicine, RPM, for example) or an Electronic Medical Records System, or a healthcare community that has needs for digital healthcare solutions, you will need Carefluence. For clinical decision support, patient safety, care continuity and care coordination, healthcare systems need to share patient data in real time. Traditional non-standard means of integration has lacked quality, efficiency, and affordability. Carefluence also reaches beyond the traditional and into the future, to facilitate applications in Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain as well.

Vivek Wadhwa’s presentation is timely. There is a pragmatic implication of magnitude when it comes to healthcare. The question for us who facilitate clinical decision support (CDS), is how ‘precision’ interoperability with systems like Carefluence can play a complementary role in the application of AI models in healthcare decision support. #interoperability #AI #LLM
🚨 The AI hype around Large Language Models (LLMs) like GPT-4 has been impossible to miss. They’ve dazzled the world with their ability to generate human-like text and tackle complex tasks. But are they hitting their limits? Apple's latest paper, along with warnings from experts like Gary Marcus, signals that LLMs might be reaching their peak. These models are impressive, but they don’t truly understand the text they generate—and they’re incredibly resource-intensive. Despite this, billions in venture capital are still flooding into LLM startups, much like lemmings running toward a cliff. As investors chase the latest AI craze, they may find themselves at the edge as these technologies hit their natural limitations. But the real AI revolution is just beginning. New areas of research—neurosymbolic AI, smarter and more efficient models, and context-aware systems—are poised to take us beyond the plateau. Want to know why the next wave of AI won't be driven by LLMs? "Beyond every data point there is a human being, a family, a society.." - Prof. (Dr.) Muhammad Yunus. YES.
If there was one statement, among others, that resonated with Carefluence at the Global Digital Health Summit, Expo & Innovation Awards 2024 in Mumbai India, was the one made by Prof (Dr.) Muhammad Yunus when he said: "Beyond every data point there is a human being, a family, a society.." The Carefluence interoperability framework is purposed for patient safety, care coordination and continuity of care - what drives Carefluence is what is good for the patient. But as the co-chair of #GDHS2024, Ann Mond Johnson stated it takes more than technology to make digital health a reality. It takes trust; and confidence in the use of technology. She also echoed a theme from the United States: "there is more that unites us than divides us." From innovation to implementation, from provider tools to patient centricity, from social determinants of health to the economics of population health, from data sharing to data security #GDHS covered a wide range of subjects and interests, including Telehealth, Interoperability, Blockchain, Robotic Surgery, Point-of-care apps and more. With Ann Mond Johnson, Dr. Rajendra Pratap Gupta, PhD, Reena Sooch, Joseph Mocanu, Marc Jones, Mevish P. Vaishnav, Akshita Tyagi, Raman Kumar, Anagha Gourisetty, Charit Bhograj, Mudit Dandwate, Zaw Ali Khan, Sahil Jagnani, Olli Rundgren, Anand Iyer, Professor Shafi Ahmed, Rohit Mahajan, Prof. Rifat Latifi, Bernardo Mariano Junior, Tobias Silberzahn, Dr. Milind Antani, Meghan Huffman, Govind Singh Rathore, Dipak Kalra, Ashwin Naik, Saneeka Vaidya, Jijo James, aditi asthana, Moses Gomes, Dr Sameer Jadhav, Pravin Carvalho, Chris Humphreys, Chirag Gogri and many more who attended and presented.

Many health IT vendors struggle with the misconception that legacy systems cannot be integrated with modern FHIR-based interoperability standards without a full overhaul. The belief that technical barriers, such as outdated infrastructure and non-standardized data formats, make interoperability too costly or complex is widespread. In line with the key discussions at the #GDHS2024 Global Digital Health Summit, Expo & Innovation Awards 'Digital Health: Challenges of Adoption', Carefluence is offering a practical solution. Carefluence enables cost-effective FHIR-based data exchange, empowering healthcare systems to modernize without disruption. Reach out to discover how we can help your organization overcome the challenges of digital health adoption.

Why Interoperability Matters:5 Strategic Advantages for Health IT Vendors

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has proposed a new rule requiring health IT procured through HHS contracts to either meet ONC standards or be certified under the ONC Health IT Certification Program. While the rule is directed at HHS contracts, its ripple effects could extend across the industry. Vendors may adopt these standards more broadly to stay competitive and align with anticipated regulatory trends. For vendors, this means a crucial shift in how they approach health IT development and certification. Ensuring compliance with ONC standards is not just about securing HHS contracts but also positioning themselves favorably in a market increasingly focused on interoperability and standardized data exchange. As the industry reacts and adapts to these changes, Carefluence remains committed to supporting our partners with solutions that are both compliant and forward-thinking.
