Announcing our next technology demonstration mission, Fledgling Veery (Veery-0F), flying with Exolaunch on the SpaceX Transporter-12 mission later this year! https://lnkd.in/gDh9uzMK Fledgling is the 4th iteration in our series of technology demonstration satellites that prove out the majority of Care Weather's in-house satellite radar technology on orbit from an incredibly low-cost platform. Fledgling aims to demonstrate: 🌀 Measurement of ocean surface wind speed. 💻 Linux central processor. ✈️ Attitude determination and control software for nadir pointing. ☀️ Deployed solar. 🪄 Shape-memory alloy deployment actuators. 📻 Over-the-air updates and a high-rate radio.

We're so excited to share that we're in Y Combinator! YC helped us move faster than ever: In the last four months we built and launched the smallest radar satellite ever. It's a huge step towards making weather forecasts far more accurate with real-time global truth data.
Care Weather uses its own low-cost satellites to get the highest-accuracy global weather data. That data helps organizations adapt to extreme weather made worse by climate change. The cost of extreme weather is $140B/year and growing exponentially. Warnings come too late to protect assets and operations because forecasts rely on limited, inaccurate measurements from aging government satellites. Founded by Alex Laraway and Patrick Walton, Care Weather leverages a new SpaceX rideshare offering to fly a unique flat-panel radar satellite, Veery, that is 1000x lower cost. Veery's form factor gives it much more solar power and lets it sail on top of the atmosphere for a closer view of the surface. Veery will map ocean surface vector winds, soil moisture, and sea ice globally every hour, with 100 m - 6 km resolution. Congrats on the launch, Alex and Patrick!

New Veery v1.0 concept rendering and website overhaul! Veery v1.0 is Care Weather's powerful satellite weather radar capable of monitoring hourly changes around the entire planet. Veery packs its radar in a small, flat-panel form factor, which gives it high performance at 1000X less cost. Learn more about Veery at www.careweather.com

Today's the day! SpaceX Falcon 9 is launching today at 2:05 PT carrying Veery-0E ("Ectobius"), the smallest satellite radar ever! After launch, Veery will be released, begin commissioning, and then begin testing of it's prototype radar. Veery is riding in the quad of black Exolaunch deployers at bottom-right of the photo, in the top-left deployer of the quad. Presenting Veery 0.3 (0E) "Ectobius", the smallest satellite radar ever! Launching on SpaceX Transporter-10 any day now! Veery 0.3 was built by a team of two for 1% of the cost of the next smallest satellite radar (NASA RainCube). Veery 0.3 will demonstrate basic radar surface detection, brushless reaction wheels, a new radio, new software, and a new radar power system. It also host an amateur radio payload to be used by amateur radio enthusiasts around the world. Veery 0.3 is our third test satellite on the road to Veery v1.0, our future satellite radar capable of monitoring global ocean surface winds at 1/1000th the cost of alternatives. Today's weather forecasts do the best they can with very limited data, especially over the ocean. Veery will be the first weather system to provide real-time, global weather monitoring for a supercharged forecast. Thanks to our investors and partners for your incredible support! We just delivered the smallest satellite radar ever! 🛰️ Veery-0E will launch to Earth orbit with Exolaunch and SpaceX on the Falcon 9 Transporter-10 mission! Thanks Exolaunch for a smooth journey to the launch pad! 🚀 For more on Veery-0E, visit: https://lnkd.in/gtQ_A9Qs
We checked the forecast – it’s sunny with a high chance of an upcoming orbital launch! 🚀 Ahead of SpaceX’s Transporter-10 mission, our team successfully completed satellite integration for Utah-based Care Weather at Vandenberg Space Force Base. 🛰️ Care Weather’s third satellite, Veery-0E, is set to solve crucial gaps in #weather capabilities and will pave the way for its future satellite-based weather sensing instruments. Care Weather aims to enable a powerful yet economical #satellite weather radar with hourly global coverage. As we prepare for launch in the coming days, the only thing raining is excitement! 🥳 Veery, we’ll see you in the skies! 📸 : SpaceX
