It is that time of year again! COLD & FLU season! You do not have to succumb to getting sick! Take some precautions and be proactive in strengthening your immune systems! Get enough sleep: We cannot emphasize the importance of sleep. Make getting enough sleep a priority! Most require 7 or 8 hours of sleep each night and even more during periods of extra stress. Be selective in what you say yes to. You do not have to attend everything! Do not become overwhelmed with an overloaded list of things to do. Keep moving: Make it a priority to schedule regular daily physical activity. Not only does it relieve stress, but you can also burn off some of those holiday indulgences, as well as stimulate the immune system. Staying with a daily exercise routine is so good for you! Walk, run, box, swim, bike, lift, paddle. The sky’s the limit here in SW FL! What a blessing! Eat fresh and dump the junk! Feeding your body healthy, organic, fresh foods is going to help you fight infection, stay strong, and improve immunity. We have control over what goes into our bodies. Choose wisely! Dump the processed, chemical-laden, fake foods! Eat fresh!

John 15:1-2 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit, he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.  According to the dictionary, “Pruning is the act of cutting off branches or parts of trees and shrubs with a view to the strengthening of those that remain, or to the bringing of the tree or plant into a desired shape.” It is actually one of the best things you can do for your plants. Proper pruning is good for the long-term health of plants and trees. When you take all the dead branches and trim live ones you are signaling to your plant to put out healthy, new growth. In return, the new growth produces more fruit! The same is true with us. We need pruning to remain healthy. The benefits of pruning in our lives are essential. God is a good gardener, and He uses pruning to shape, smooth, cleanse, and purify us so that we can have healthy growth and produce an abundance of fruit in our lives. However, the process of pruning is rarely easy, and it is painful. Who wants to be cut and trimmed? Not many. But it is essential. It makes us fruitful. It frees us to do what we are created to do by ridding us of dead parts of our lives that will never produce fruit. And even the healthy parts of our life, when properly pruned, will produce to their maximum extent. God is more concerned about our fruit than our comfort. Will you trust Him to prune your “good” to make room for His “best”? Here’s to growing your best “fruit!”

In this article, we will discuss how chest pain, a racing heartbeat, panic attacks, fainting, and near-fainting episodes, and anxiety may be coming from a problem in the cervical spine causing compression on the nerves, arteries, and veins that are all part of the cardiovascular system. It is important to realize that this may only be one possible explanation as to why seemingly healthy individuals, having been checked out by their cardiologist, have cardiovascular-type symptoms with no clear explanation. Cervical instability created autonomic myopathy or autonomic neuropathy, that is nerve damage that blocks or interferes with the messages sent between the brain and the heart and blood vessels, can lead to a variety of serious symptoms including palpitations, racing or skipping beats, tremors, blurring of vision, lightheadedness, presyncope (sensation of going to faint), actually fainting, shortness of breath, chest pain, congestive heart failure, and various heart arrhythmias. Diagnoses such as myocardial ischemia, angina, atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, mitral valve prolapse, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), drop attacks, and life-threatening hypotensive episodes can be from autonomic failure which can have a cervical structural etiology.
