Election Day is here! Please remind your friends in the Carolinas to vote all the way down ballot. While the race for the White House draws the most attention, it’s hard to overstate how important state level offices are for the clean energy industry. A few examples: -State Supreme Courts: Generally, if parties challenge a commission or a PSC ruling, it is heard in state supreme courts. https://lnkd.in/eW8SPxyt -Governor/ State Legislators: Governors and / or legislators make or recommend appointments for a range of committees from the NC Utilities Commission / SC PSC and Advanced Energy (in North Carolina) to the Energy Policy Council. https://lnkd.in/eJ3QmpCv -Lt. Governor: In NC, the Lt. Governor sets the agenda and runs the Energy Policy Council. https://lnkd.in/ejvgfmun -Attorney General: The attorney general plays one of the largest roles in determining the direction of the energy transition and has a constitutional role in specific utility commission deliberations. https://lnkd.in/eEHYMkgc

The Timbermill Wind Project is driving major growth in Edenton, NC. Check out our member NC Sustainable Energy Association's post to learn more about this exciting development!
Once a boomtown for textiles, Edenton, North Carolina’s growth has waned in recent years as jobs moved to larger, metropolitan cities. But a recent economic injection from a new wind farm has boosted development in the small town and presented new job and growth opportunities that have residents feeling hopeful about the future. In addition to the hundreds of jobs created by the Apex Clean Energy Timbermill Wind Project, numerous local businesses were involved. Simon Rich III, general manager of Riverbulk Transportation, saw the wind project as a chance to transform a shuttered dye plant into a hub for shipping and storing turbine components and growing a footprint to attract future customers. Tax transferability provisions in the Inflation Reduction Act are quite different from traditional tax-equity structures, and have been a driving force for the clean energy market. By allowing members of the clean tech industry to sell their tax credits, transferability is maximizing the potential of IRA inventives. By the end of the year, some estimate that transactions in this market will reach up to $25 billion. https://lnkd.in/eDSujiCJ

"A study published last month in the journal Nature found that charging stations boost sales at nearby businesses. Shops, restaurants and hotels within about 300 feet of an EV charging port see sales increase roughly 3 percent compared to similar businesses that don’t have a charger nearby, according to the MIT-led research team. That adds up to several hundred dollars of extra revenue at each store every year." Read more: https://lnkd.in/eV7Mjrdq
