Altitude Trampoline Parks, a Texas-based franchise, is opening a location in Cary! The venue will be located at 220 Grande Heights Drive in the Harrison Pointe shopping center, less than two miles north from downtown. Altitude has two other North Carolina locations, one in Gastonia and one in Jacksonville. It has approximately 100 locations in 27 states and abroad. Attractions at Altitude vary by location and include dodgeball, climbing walls, foam pits and more.

Developers have made significant progress on the redevelopment of South Hills Mall in Cary, North Carolina, after the Cary Town Council approved a rezoning plan. The project, led by LODEN Development and Northpond Partners, aims to transform the 44.35-acre site into a mixed-use area featuring residential, office, hotel, retail, and a sports complex over the next 10 to 15 years, with construction starting in late 2024.

In September, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services issued Waltonwood Wake LLC a certificate of need to move forward with its proposal to develop a 100-bed senior living community in Cary at an expected cost of about $51.9 million. The location is on Geyer Court near the corner of NW Cary Parkway and Evans Road. Construction of the facility is scheduled to be completed by October 2027 and the facility is supposed to begin offering services in January 2028. Under its Waltonwood Senior Living brand, Singh Development Company operates facilities that provide services in independent living, assisted living and memory care. The company has two existing Waltonwood facilities in Wake County, including sites on Cary Parkway and Horton Street, with another facility on Lead Mine Road under development.

National homebuilder Tri Pointe Homes is moving into the luxury home market in the Triangle. Tri Pointe Homes acquired 104 acres of land along Castleberry Road near Castlebury Lake for $36.4 million, according to Wake County deed records. The plan is to build 170 single-family luxury homes. According to Amanda Hoyle, director of land acquisition for Tri Pointe, “We’re trying to build our presence in the market. We’ve had a lot of success with our townhome product, and we are very excited to be moving into the luxury housing market as well and expanding our customer base in the Triangle market.”

According to a recent announcement, Cary is set to host six NCAA national championship events across three sports from 2026 to 2028. This includes two Women’s College Cups, two Men’s College Cups and two Division II Baseball World Series. Cary has a strong history in hosting NCAA events, having welcomed 38 championships since 2003 and aiming to reach a total of 41 with the upcoming events this academic year.

Burns & McDonnell, a global engineering, construction and architecture firm, is moving its local office to a 17,000-square-foot space at Cary’s Fenton development this month. The larger office will accommodate the 50 new employees the firm plans to hire in the coming years. In the next three years, Ganthner said Burns & McDonnell plans to expand to 130 employees in the Triangle region, including new architects, engineers and construction professionals. According to Burns & McDonnell’s Mid-Atlantic vice president and general manager Jeffrey Ganthner on the Fenton space, “We were literally looking at trying to make sure that our team really had a great place to work throughout the day, places to eat and amenities in the area that were going to be developing over the next 10 to 20 years.”
