Because of your generosity on days like Give Miami Day, we’re building the first-of-its-kind enriched affordable housing community for adults with IDD and other related disabilities in South Florida. Phase 1 is already under construction and it’s just the beginning of something truly exceptional. Pledge your support here: https://lnkd.in/emHRFMR7 This year, The Miami Foundation is asking the community: “What will YOU give Miami?” We’re hoping your answer will be, “Exceptional Housing for Exceptional People!” 🏠❤️

Exceptional Housing for Exceptional People.
About us
Eight years ago, around a kitchen table, a group of families realized they shared a common fear: "What's going to happen to my child when I am no longer around to care them?" This fear turned into a shared dream — a dream of creating Exceptional Housing for Exceptional People. Casa Familia is developing the first-of-its-kind enriched affordable housing community for adults with IDD and other related disabilities in South Florida. Through generous support and guidance from public and private partnerships, Casa Familia is creating a multi-phase affordable residential community designed to serve the needs of a broad spectrum of individuals with IDD and other related disabilities. Phase I will consist of 50 spacious one- and two-bedroom apartments that can accommodate approximately 60 adults, and an 11,000 square foot state-of-the-art community center. In addition, there will be robust activities and services tailored for them. We believe that Casa Familia is more than just a physical community; it is a village; a village of people who share a belief that adults with intellectual, developmental, and other related disabilities deserve to have an affordable choice in where they live. If you shares this belief, welcome to our Familia!

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, our Executive Director, Dr.Anay Abraham, has been selected by Brickell Magazine/Key Biscayne Magazine-TAG Media Miami, as a Cultural Icon for this year’s Latino Visionaries feature! From an early age, Anay Abraham,Ed.D., learned passion and purpose by drawing inspiration from her family who fled to the U.S. for a better life. “I view every opportunity to make a meaningful impact as a privilege, not a given,” she says. Her cultural background also fosters a deep sense of empathy and connection with others, particularly those who face challenges. “It fuels my drive to create positive change and supports my purpose of bridging gaps and advocating for those who are underserved. Ultimately, my Latino heritage has instilled in me a sense of purpose and a passion for leveraging my skills to contribute meaningfully, guided by a spirit of gratitude and love.” Congratulations Anay! It is our privilege to have you leading our Village! 🏠❤️

Meet our Operations Coordinator, Ashley Blanco! She is a double alumnus from Florida State University, having obtained her Bachelor of Science in International Affairs in 2023 and Master of Public Administration degree with a Certificate in Civic and Nonprofit Leadership in 2024. As someone who has always placed service at the center of her life, she is extremely involved in both her local and international community and has received awards for her service from @FloridaStateUniversity. While she has extensive experience serving in the Dominican Republic, Africa, and her local community as a volunteer, she is eager to do so now at an organizational level. Ashley joined the Casa Familia team as a part-time employee in January of 2023 and is proud to now be a full-time employee. She is immensely excited to continue working to build Exceptional Housing for Exceptional People. We're thankful to have her in our Familia! 🏠️❤️
