Industrious Culture Last week I retuned to Cardiff to deliver the second ‘ High Performance Not High Maintenance’ HP speaking session. Two Construction companies. The first, specialises in enveloping (roofing and cladding solutions), the second bespoke scaffolding and acess solutions. What both companies held in common. A talent in taking on complex special projects and the culture they share in performance and delivery. The construction industry is demanding and requires dynamic, reactive decision making as well as thorough forecasting and planning. Scalable teams matched to resources, logistics, budget and an ability to adapt to the unexpected. All delivered safely to clients expectations. It’s a big ask, particularly in the management of people. Unpredictable weather and unforeseen uncontrollable events. These companies provide invaluable work to many 100’s and then 1000’s daily. The nature of the challenges they face hold many similarities to military operations. It was impressive to realise how capable and adept these companies are. It’s not easy to do this day in and day out. A pleasure to spend time with all of you and share our valuable knowledge and experiences. On Saturday at the invite of the construction company I had the privilege of attending the six nations game at the Principality Stadium. An incredible arena to watch the Ireland versus Wales Six Nations Rugby game. Rare to watch a game as exciting as this one. I hugely enjoyed the entertainment of the locker room event with Tom Shanklin in the venue at Cardiff Rugby and the insightful, at times delightfully comic inputs of panel guests speakers including Geordan Murphy (was great to see you). Great food, great company and an immense effort in the rugby stadium made a memorable event. Couple of thoughts: - Great sporting events unite us all. Rugby is particularly close to my cultural heart but this applies where you find international arenas and clubs that deliver so much for everyone. - The industrial cultural heritage of Wales and Cardiff as a whole continues to shape impressive companies with a productive no nonsense culture to deliver, especially in tough sectors like the construction industry. They embody the meaning of resilience and performance. Left with a smile, looking Forward to returning. Thank you. 🌍 World Cancer Day | 4th February Cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide, accounting for nearly 10 million deaths in 2020—that’s almost one in six. Today, on World Cancer Day, we stand in support of those affected, honouring the fighters, the survivors, and the loved ones who stand beside them. 💗  To date we have raised over £41,418 for charities close to our heart, and these include charities who carry out incredible work to support those affected by cancer. This year, one of our chosen charities to support is Velindre.
