Thank you to Samantha Dorsey for sharing your experience with CatalogIt! We're honored to support your work and thrilled to see the Historical Society of Carroll County, Maryland, Inc.'s collections come to life online, making thousands of years of history more accessible to your community and beyond. 👏 Browse their collection on the CatalogIt HUB: https://lnkd.in/gzqmYVtH
Any museum professional who works with or administers collections management software has BIG feelings about their platform. When the Historical Society of Carroll County, Maryland, Inc. invited me to help process a curatorial backlog this year (more on that later), we assessed their existing software collectively. We found it fell short of their new mission. Together we evaluated twenty-two other systems to see if they met our brief: intuitive, online, diverse (object/archive/archaeological friendly), and affordable. We found all that and more in CatalogIt. CMS's have progressed by leaps and bounds in the past five years, and in my opinion, CatalogIt is at the top for small museums with mighty collections. We transitioned from the old database to the new one, and earlier this month, their new publicly accessible database made its debut. This transformation marks a significant step forward, allowing users like you to explore thousands of years of Carroll County History from their homes. See it for yourself.
