Catholic Charities agencies, parishes, partner organizations and generous donors have worked together to supply and stand up distribution sites for critically needed disaster relief in areas hard-hit by Hurricane Helene. Providing everything from tarps, water, diapers and hygiene kits to sleeping bags, two-person tents, solar lamps and cleaning kits, staff at Catholic Charities agencies — who are often themselves disaster survivors and facing their own incredible losses — are working tirelessly to help their neighbors in need. Morgan and now as a leadership coach, author and board chair of CommonSpirit Health, Chris Lowney has learned that the best leaders are those that maintain self-awareness and know what they stand for. God walks with Vivian. When Vivian arrived in San Diego with her 6-year-old daughter, she shared a painful story. Vivian's husband, a police officer in Brazil, abused her mentally and physically for years and abused their child, as well. Friends, family – even a local judge – were either too afraid or too close to her husband to help. She survived an assault on the journey to America and arrived bruised and with a fractured rib cage, but alive. Now living in New England, Vivian has received case management and legal, medical and housing assistance. Most importantly, she has hope for a new life. “Jesus is present in the sister or brother in need of our help,” Pope Francis wrote in his message for the 2024 World Day of Migrants and Refugees. “In this sense, the poor save us, because they enable us to encounter the face of the Lord.” To learn more about how the Catholic Church calls us to welcome migrants and refugees, visit https://bit.ly/3TAmo4Q. #GodWalksWithHisPeople #WDMR2024

Helene, now a Category 4 hurricane, is set to make landfall in Florida this evening. Widespread extreme damage is expected, and life-threatening conditions will reach hundreds of miles inland due to the hurricane’s large size. Catholic Charities agencies are already mobilizing to provide emergency relief, including food, water and shelter. Their work, which starts long before a disaster hits and will continue long after Helene has passed, is made possible by our generous donors. Please consider donating now to provide relief to those who will be affected and to support those who serve them. https://bit.ly/3BgSuMq
