🛰️ At Catona, we fundamentally believe that cutting-edge technologies are essential to better understand and demonstrate our projects’ impact — driving quality, integrity and trust in the market. So we’re thrilled to be featured in a new report from KPMG and others on integrating nature and technology. 🌐 In partnership with Chloris Geospatial we use geospatial data to measure the amount of carbon stored in biomass (from space!) to help monitor and de-risk nature-based projects at scale — which the report concludes “illustrates how AI and remote sensing can be leveraged to support high-integrity carbon markets.” A big thanks to the report’s authors — KPMG, Nature Tech Collective , Nature4Climate, Climate Collective, and Serena — for recognizing this important work. When you have a moment, check out Integrating nature tech: A guide for businesses to learn more about our partnership and many other inspiring nature/tech initiatives. 💚 Download the report: 👇 https://lnkd.in/eRYiQu5U

📰 News Alert: Catona’s Chief Carbon Officer Robert Lee sat down with OPIS, A Dow Jones Company to share his insights on the state of ARR projects. With demand soaring and supply scarce, Rob reminds us that the urgency for issuances just beyond the horizon can’t come at the expense of quality. Projects need to consider their carbon impact alongside impacts on local environments and communities – all essential components of Catona’s monitoring and engagement framework. The article is currently available for OPIS subscribers, and will be available for non-subscribers soon.

🌲 We came, we saw … we slacklined. 🌲 🏃 🌲 ⛰️ Surrounded by Colorado’s natural beauty, our recent team meet-up gave us an opportunity to exchange big ideas in person, strategize on our path forward, and simply enjoy each other’s company — indoors and out. ☀️ Because how we support (and celebrate) one another is part of what keeps us on such solid footing. 👣

🥾 This hike in the woods was no walk in the park — but we’re always up for a challenge. 🌲 ⛰️ Our team recently gathered in the gorgeous Colorado foothills to take stock of our progress, bond over 🌮 and 🍸, and plan out our next big steps. Together we’re forging a bold path ahead — more united, inspired, and motivated than ever by our mission to restore nature and fight climate change on a global scale. 💪 🌎

🌱 On-the-ground site visits are critical to project quality. They allow us to see a project’s impact up close, and engage with local stakeholders in person. In Montana, we met with local ranchers dedicated to land stewardship who are adopting regenerative grazing techniques that improve soil health and sequester more carbon. We got to see firsthand how they’re working to support each other to change ranching practices for the better. 🤠 👇 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/ghz7vYXK

When evaluating new projects for our investment portfolio, we like to get up close. 🔎 Site visits are a key aspect of our diligence process — we can assess the viability of potential projects first-hand. 🌎 Like our visits to Colombia, Brazil and Malawi, which helped us determine developers’ capabilities to implement high-impact projects, and gain the invaluable perspectives of local community-members. 💚 👇 Discover more benefits of site visits: https://lnkd.in/ghz7vYXK

There are some things geospatial analysis just can’t capture. So our experts regularly conduct site visits around the world to check in on our projects. 🌎 Our team’s visit to this Forest Garden agroforestry project in western Kenya gave us the opportunity to monitor the project’s progress and impact, and work more closely with our project development partner Trees for the Future — while getting direct feedback from participant farmers, and engaging the local community more deeply than we ever could from behind a screen. 🫱🏼🫲🏾 👇 Read all about it (and more on our monitoring strategy): https://lnkd.in/ghz7vYXK
