Meet Charles and Vanessa Stevens of SC Ranch in Hawaii, where they raise beef on the rugged slopes of Mauna Kea. Much of their ranch is located at 4,000 feet elevation, and they keep every bit of their beef right on the island – “born local, staying local and feeding local people.” This story is part of a series by Beef Checkoff contractor, the National Cattlemen's Beef Association and the Hawaii Beef Industry Council, showcasing family-owned ranches, butchers and restaurants in Hawaii. Driving Demand For Beef.
About us
The Cattlemen's Beef Promotion and Research Board, usually referred to as the Cattlemen's Beef Board (CBB), consists of 101 members, including domestic beef, dairy and veal producers, as well as importers of beef and beef products. Each Beef Board member is appointed by the Secretary of Agriculture from nominations submitted by state certified nominating organizations. The CBB facilitates the Beef Checkoff Program. The Beef Checkoff is a producer-funded marketing and research program that acts as a catalyst for change and is designed to stimulate beef sales and consumption through a combination of initiatives including consumer advertising, research, public relations and new product development. Internal links within this website are funded and maintained by the Beef Checkoff Program. Outgoing links may be to websites maintained by third parties not funded by the checkoff.
