Always a pleasure to teach at the Association of Corporate Citizenship Professionals annual conference and to interact with such energized #SocialImpact leaders. Mark Feldman and I led an engaging workshop focused on committing to impact modeling to measure outcomes rather than just outputs for more effective storytelling. Most participants shared that capturing outcomes is challenging. Our discussion emphasized the importance of having a signature program, a defined theory of change, and measurement practices to better articulate and humanize the issue specific work. Driving toward outcomes throughout program design, implementation, and refinement is essential as is engaging nonprofit partners. We also had the privilege of celebrating Carolyn S. Berkowitz and her 'rewirement' as she embarks on her next adventures. The sheer scale of people who continue to be displaced due to economic, social, and military conflicts is shocking. Through our Alnylam Challengers social impact program, we support organizations in Spain, the UK, the Netherlands, and Italy, providing critical services to #refugees so they can rebuild their lives with dignity. I recently visited with our Alnylam Challengers partners Refugee Action, Forward·Inc and Soleterre to hear more about the successes, challenges, and ongoing needs in each country. They described the critical work they do to help refugees prepare for careers in their new homes, from amplifying digital skills to providing language support and much more. They also highlighted how grateful they are for our employees who serve as volunteer mentors and help raise charitable donations to bolster their work.
