2024 is an exciting time to be a part of the manufactured housing industry. To get more clarity around the current industry buzz, we caught up with President and CEO of Cavco Industries, Bill Boor at the 2024 Innovative Housing Showcase to ask him why manufactured housing might be the hiding-in-plain-sight solution for people searching for affordable housing in today's market. Will we start to see a boom in manufactured housing as traditional builds continue to price out the middle class? We'd love to hear your thoughts! #affordablehousing #manufacturedhousing #housing #innovativehousingshowcase #construction

This year's Fall Home Show — hosted by Commodore Homes and Colony Homes, in Shippenville Pennsylvania, as well as Pennwest/Manorwood Homes in Emlenton, Pennsylvania — was an incredible success and a great example of teamwork across the Cavco brands. The combined effort attracted more than 350 attendees, including builders, retailers and community owners. The show displayed the commitment to innovative designs and features that are strengths of all three plants, giving their retailers and community managers a unique and engaging event that showcased their best products. Each plant introduced several new homes, key innovations and product upgrades. Some of the standout features included: •Colony Homes displayed seven new model homes focusing on the re-imagined Beacon Prestige series. They showcased new features and options including OSB and wind wrap standard on all homes as well as interior and exterior black features for a modern look. •Pennwest/Manorwood Homes unveiled stunning new home models, including the Casita 3 and the Ultra 11. •Commodore Homes introduced black windows and doors for the first time, adding a sleek new aesthetic to the homes. In addition, their new Barndominium package, a standard OSB with wind wrap and quartz solid countertops were well received. “The Fall Home Show has become a key event in our industry, and this year’s turnout and reception were outstanding. The teamwork across our plants is truly inspiring,” said Karl Tarango, Regional Vice President. "It’s also gratifying to see our new designs and features resonate with our partners. We’re excited to continue this tradition of excellence and innovation." Competitors have attempted to piggyback on the Fall Show's success, but none have been able to match its scale and impact. “Our competitors can’t do what we do and that gives us a huge advantage in the Northeast with three plants grouped together all having our own set of retailers,” said Bryan McElravy, Sales Manager, Colony Homes. Congratulations to everyone involved on your amazing Fall Home Show! #manufacturedhousing #modularhousing #manufacturing #construction #homeshow #pennsylvania

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to reflect on the impact of breast cancer, which remains the most common cancer among women in the United States, after skin cancer. This year we're showing the women fighting breast cancer, as well as breast cancer survivors, that the Cavco Team stands with them. We've encouraged our team to join in on Pink Fridays and wearing something pink, whether that’s a shirt, hat, socks or ribbon, every Friday for the month of October. In addition to wearing pink, we're encouraging our plants to find local charities or organizations dedicated to fighting breast cancer and making donations, big or small. Whether it's a financial contribution, donating time, or gathering supplies, every effort makes a difference. Shout out to The Palm Harbor Homes crew in Plant City, FL for wearing their pink all the way back in 2023. #breastcancerawareness #culture #support #teambuilding

At Cavco we champion the desire and drive to always “Press Forward with Grit.” To explain what that means for our company culture, we caught up with John Lyons to get his perspective as a 40-year veteran of the manufactured housing industry, and the current Retail General Manager in Plant City, Florida. John is retiring at the end of this month, but before his incredible career comes to a close, we wanted to ask him what pressing forward with grit means to him based on his decades of experience hiring, leading, mentoring and inspiring sales consultants. #sales #thoughtleadership #manufacturing #salesconsultants

On September 3, Cavco Industries, Inc. named insurance industry veteran Regan Fackrell l as the new President of Standard Casualty Company, its insurance division headquartered in New Braunfels, Texas. While new to the manufactured housing industry, Regan brings over 20 years of successful insurance, sales and management experience and an array of fresh new ideas and approaches to Standard Casualty Company. In addition to ensuring Standard Casualty is positioned for profitable growth by making needed adjustments to underwriting and rating practices, Regan plans to expand its agency capabilities to become a national, full-service agency. “We need to be writing coverage to protect things in addition to homes,” said Regan. “That includes automobiles and boats, umbrella coverage, even life insurance. Our customers have many other needs, so we need to be able to create insurance products to meet them.” Standard Casualty’s new purpose statement, which Regan calls its North Star, says it all — We make a difference in people’s lives by providing affordable protection. “I’m excited about this industry and the future of Standard Casualty Company,” said Regan. “To provide more affordable insurance solutions is how we will make a difference.” Said Bill Boor, President and Chief Executive Officer, Cavco Industries, “Making homeowners insurance more comprehensive and easily available is an integral component of making housing more attainable. I’m confident Regan’s proven track record and leadership abilities will not only help our customers reach their goal of owning a home but it will protect their investment, as well.” #newhire #insurance #manufacturedhousing #news

We’re proud to announce that Fleetwood Homes in Rocky Mount, Virginia has been awarded the 2024 Manufacturer of the Year Award by the Virginia Manufactured and Modular Housing Association (VAMMHA). The Rocky Mount team was selected to win this award over 20 other manufacturers selling into Virginia, surpassing this impressive field of competitors in both build quality and design innovation. Jim Trepinski, General Manager, Fleetwood Homes – Rocky Mount, is proud of the team’s hard work: “This award is really about our floor associates, our quality team, our Learning, Development and Education team, our supervisors — all of them. The attitude and effort that each one of them puts forth every day is amazing.” The VAMMHA Award recognizes leaders of innovation in the industry, and Rocky Mount’s leadership in the development of the Anthem line of multi-unit homes was a major factor in earning this honor. The Anthem duplex, the first HUD-approved manufactured duplex available nationwide, is a groundbreaking achievement, and Jim and the Rocky Mount team were key players in pioneering this line. The recent major update to the HUD Code by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development makes their work on the duplex even more relevant. A key component of these Code changes includes provisions for manufactured home builders to produce multi-dwelling units (duplexes, triplexes and quadplexes) that reduce build times, expand design flexibility, and unlock new applications for the Anthem’s use. Most importantly, industry builders can begin construction on multi-unit homes immediately. “Our duplex product really demonstrates what sets us apart,” said Richard Smith, Sales Manager, Fleetwood Homes – Rocky Mount. “We’ve worked closely with municipalities and developers across the state, not only building homes but also addressing the affordable housing needs in these communities.” The award also recognizes the plant’s commitment to quality. “There’s a real pride in craftsmanship among our teams,” said Jim. “Every department competes in a healthy way to deliver the best results, and that’s also been a big factor in winning this award.” The plant’s recent work with developers, like those building student housing at the University of Virginia’s Wise County campus, has been instrumental in showcasing the Anthem duplex’s capabilities. “We’ve met with local governments and developers to show how our HUD-approved duplex homes can help address housing shortages, especially in smaller communities,” Richard added. So, let’s celebrate this large success! Congratulations to Fleetwood Homes of Rocky Mount and everyone who contributed to winning this award by pressing forward with grit and determination — We cannot wait to see what is next. #manufacturedhousing #manufacturing #construction #virginia #awards
