Congratulations to Jefferson County, Colorado Open Space for making exciting progress on the Clear Creek Canyon Trail! 🚵♀️ If you caught last Friday’s cover story in The Denver Post, you’ve seen that the County is moving forward with efforts to complete the next phase of construction—another three-mile segment west of Golden—of the multi-use trailway along Clear Creek and U.S. Route 6. The full #ClearCreekCanyonTrail is part of a 65-mile trail system that, once completed, will connect Loveland Pass to Adams County. CDR’s Laura Hickey, Audrey Clavijo, and Melissa Bade have supported municipalities and partners across the corridor in Adams, Denver, Jefferson, Clear Creek Counties to coordinate resources and planning efforts. Construction over the next two years will include paved and wheelchair-accessible trails, over- and underpasses, parking, restrooms, and trailheads, providing greater recreational amenities as well as improved traffic safety. Read the cover story below! #ClearCreek #recreation #colorado #publiclands

CDR's Jean Gatza and Audrey Clavijo recently spent some time with Eagle County residents at the Basalt Summer Music Series and the Sylvan Lake Camping Weekend sponsored by Mountain Recreation and Walking Mountains' Eagle Valley Outdoor Movement (EVOM)! The Eagle County Government's Open Space Program is currently developing its first Open Space Plan to define the program’s long-term vision for protection, acquisition, and management of County open spaces. CDR's outreach support is ensuring that community members are informed of and involved in the process. Special shoutouts to Edgar Tellez Soto and Renata Bianca Araujo (EVOM), Kaili Schroeder (Mountain Rec), and Alex Lyght (Eagle County) for organizing the fun events and for allowing CDR to participate! Your next trip on I-70 just got a lot safer! 🦌 The first wildlife crossing along the I-70 Mountain Corridor is now open to traffic for vehicles and wildlife alike. As you travel along the interstate between the Lookout Mountain and Genessee exists, various species of animals will be passing underneath the roadway. Collisions with wildlife are expected to decrease by up to 90 percent thanks to the new infrastructure. As long-time facilitators of the Colorado Wildlife & Transportation Alliance, the CDR team is thrilled to see on-the-ground projects supported by the Alliance's efforts come to fruition—especially along the #I70MountainCorridor, where our team has engaged nearby communities and jurisdictions for many years as part of the Context Sensititve Solutions (CSS) process. #ColoradoWTA #wildlifecrossing #transportationsafety #roadecology

Glad to see our team utilizing the very #transportation systems we support through our work! Colorado leaders, organizations, and agencies are working hard to diversify #mobility options for communities throughout the state. #BikeToWorkDay is just one example of these multi-modal, community-driven efforts. CDR facilitates a wide range of consensus-building and engagement processes for transportation projects in Colorado and around the country, and we're excited to see what other ideas and initiatives grow in our state.
Happy #BikeToWorkDay to all those who observe! 🚲 (Due to scheduling reasons, this was really more of a #BikeToBusToBikeToDentistDay for me, but it still counts, right?) Thanks to the many volunteers who chose to spend their early Wednesday morning setting up tents, distributing snacks, and adhering temporary tattoos—especially the folks at Alpine Bank, Venus de Miles, St Julien Hotel & Spa, and (Karen Worminghaus and Elaine C. Erb at) Boulder Chamber Transportation Connections (BCTC). Additional thanks to organizations like Denver Regional Council of Governments and Commuting Solutions for making this fantastic event possible and to RTD for the 28-mile bus support on my Denver–Boulder journey today. 🙂

Great news indeed! This forthcoming webinar series will support the ongoing work of biospheres across the northerneastern US (United States Biosphere Network (USBN)) and eastern Canada (Canadian Biosphere Reserves Association) to strengthen international collaboration around the region's beautiful forests. Great news! Our Future Forests Reimagined Initiative has secured a $40,000 grant to support a virtual workshop series aimed at advancing ecological forestry, protecting and restoring old forests, and promoting rewilding and restoration across eight UNESCO Biosphere regions within the Northern Appalachian-Acadian-Wabanaki (NAPAW) bioregion. 🌲 🌳 These workshops will be pivotal in enhancing international exchange, indigenous participation, and collaboration. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Great Lakes Fishery Commission, the NEIWPCC, and the Champlain Valley Natural Heritage Partnership for their invaluable support. 👉 For more information, please contact Christine Laporte, MES, Northern Appalachian Achadian Program Director (christine@wildlandsnetwork.org). 🔎 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/dtJ26p2N

Congratulations to the E-470 Public Highway Authority's Transportation Safety Foundation on a successful fundraiser. ✨ The CDR team enjoyed participating; just check out our post from yesterday! View a full list of the transportation safety grant recipients at the link below:
Members from more than 30 organizations teed up last week at our Transportation Safety Foundation fundraiser! 🏌️🛣️🦺 Did you know that E-470 has its own nonprofit foundation? The E-470 Transportation Safety Foundation was established in 2001 to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of E-470. The foundation raises thousands of dollars annually (no toll revenue) and uses those funds to distribute grants to local nonprofit organizations and tax-exempt government entities supporting transportation safety, public safety, and driver education programs in Colorado. Thank you to all sponsors for raising more than $70,000 at this year's fundraiser, we appreciate your support and partnership! The funds raised will be awarded to this year's grant recipients on Thursday, June 13th. Learn more about the Transportation Safety Foundation and see this year's grant recipients (will be posted after the ceremony on June 13th) here: https://lnkd.in/gUmsrWEh

What we lack in golfing abilities, we certainly make up for in joy! ⛳ Jeffrey Range and Audrey Clavijo had a wonderful time practicing their golf swings earlier this month as CDR's representatives at a biennial Topgolf tournament led by the E-470 Public Highway Authority's Transportation Safety Foundation. Since 2020, the Foundation has hosted the event to raise funds for organizations that support transportation and public safety in Colorado. More than 200 participants teed off to raise over $70,000 for 15 grant recipients—including Thriving Families, WeeCycle, and the Brighton Fire Rescue District! The CDR team is a proud sponsor of the #transportationsafety fundraisder and continues to facilitate many of E-470's public and stakeholder engagement efforts.
