Have you seen Mr. Shucks out and about in Cedar Rapids? He recently visited Wilkins Elementary for America Reads Day and helped with the Especially for You Race Against Breast Cancer in downtown. He loves to be a part of community events with the rest of the Kernels staff! If you see him, be sure to say hello and let him know how much you miss baseball season ⚾

The Kernels are proud to announce that pitcher John Klein has been selected as a recipient of the Harmon Killebrew Community Service Award by the Minnesota Twins. Klein spent the entirety of the 2024 season with the Kernels and played an integral role in the Cedar Rapids community. In addition to his volunteer work with Home Run for Hunger, Klein also connected with the public through social media outreach, kids programs at our games, and at a skills clinic. Thank you for everything you have done for the Kernels on and off the field, John!

Last night, the Kernels front office hosted a Thank You Dinner for our seasonal staff and their families. Their work is essential to our operation and we are so grateful for everything they did to bring fun to the ballpark this summer. Thank you for everything you do!

The Five Seasons Stand Down was hosted at Veterans Memorial Stadium today. All veterans and other community members experiencing homelessness or near-homelessness were welcomed to the stadium to be provided with critical resources from local vendors. Mr. Shucks was also there to brighten the day. Thank you to Five Seasons Stand Down and all of the vendors for servicing our community!
