🌟 What Can Business Learn from Art? 🌍 The Harvard Business Review highlights how businesses can thrive by embracing creativity, emotional intelligence, and the human experience—something Waldorf schools have championed for years. Waldorf education integrates art into every aspect of learning, fostering innovative thinking and collaboration from an early age. This holistic approach is now being recognized as a valuable strategy in the business world, proving once again that Waldorf education is ahead of its time. https://lnkd.in/g5ZPdnUk

Education for a wholehearted life | Pre-K to Grade 8 Waldorf School in Portland, OR.
About us
Cedarwood is more than a school. It's a place for the whole family to grow, learn, and connect with community. Located just minutes from downtown Portland, Oregon, in the historic Lair Hill Neighborhood, Cedarwood Waldorf School's curriculum weaves together the arts, academics and movement to bring learning to life. Cedarwood students are curious and engaged critical thinkers and doers who care about creating a better world. Children in pre-kindergarten through grade 8 are nurtured by a developmentally thoughtful pedagogy, with hands-on experiences both in the classroom and off-campus. Throughout their educational journey, our students are met with openness to possibility, given time to develop resiliency, and taught skills to turn challenges into opportunities.

Raise your hand if you've got a child's shelter project, Martinmas lantern, or first-grade knitting project stored away on a shelf in the garage! This New York Times article points out the attachment that many people have with objects they have made with their own hands. Waldorf parents and students know this all too well! "This is because we often see the things we make as part of our identities, said Dr. Norton, who has conducted research on how people come to value objects. Our creations help us 'feel a sense of confidence and a sense of mastery that is really hard to get sometimes in other places,' he added." https://lnkd.in/gHeVru25

It wasn't that long ago that educators faced the challenge of how to incorporate technology into classrooms. In those days, Waldorf schools were the minority voices that bucked the trend, prioritizing relationship and human interaction. Today, the pendulum is swinging in the other direction. Many classrooms are overrun with technology, and parents and teachers are seeking solutions for meaningful educational experiences that are enhanced by technology--not dictated by it. Waldorf educators have an opportunity to lead the way and show how to use technology holistically, helping children develop healthy tech habits. "It’s not conclusive that tech, as opposed to hard-copy materials, improves educational outcomes. And sometimes devices or programs simply don’t function the way they’re supposed to." https://lnkd.in/g6HDTwWn #waldorf #waldorfeducation #edtech
