Helping ALL babies in Columbus - regardless of race, zip code or family income- celebrate their 1st birthday.

About us

CelebrateOne is a Collective Impact Agency focused on ensuring every baby lives to celebrate his or her first birthday—regardless of race, family income or zip code. Formed in 2014 to meet the recommendations of the Greater Columbus Infant Mortality Task Force, our organization has been guiding the work of neighborhood lead entities, non-profit resource partners and the greater community to reduce the infant mortality rate and close the racial health disparity gap. Eight neighborhoods in Columbus have infant mortality rates nearly three times higher than the county, state, and national averages. Our focused efforts to mitigate disparities in these communities include providing health workers or “connectors” who educate and support pregnant and new mothers. CelebrateOne brings partners together each month to collaborate on resources so moms and families can securely access maternity care, affordable housing, safe sleep environments, and other needs to ensure healthy babies.

Fact: In the first half of 2024, 15 infants died in Franklin County due to a sleep-related condition. That’s 26% of all deaths among Franklin County children younger than 1 year old. Our hospitals are working to reduce the infant mortality rate, in part, by showing all parents who delivered a baby in one of Franklin County’s nine birthing hospitals an educational, safe-sleep video prior to being discharged from the hospital. In the first 6 months of 2024, 88% of parents who delivered a baby in a Franklin County birthing hospital reported viewing the video before discharge. Our goal is 100%. This week, a safe-sleep new video went live across our birthing hospitals. This new-and-improved, updated video highlights the elements of a safe home sleep environment for newborns, how to practice the ABCs of safe sleep—every nap, every night, every time—the importance of not smoking in the house, and tips for keeping yourself alert and awake while caring for your baby.
