  • "Just as we are seeing AI being applied to legal analysis and customer service in very expected ways, there is going to be another wave of capabilities enabled by AI that were not immediately intuitive. If you think about it, we had the launch of the iPhone, then you had the launch of the App Store, and then you had the capability for real-time tracking... Just as the launch of these tools enabled unexpected, disruptive applications like Uber and Airbnb, we anticipate that the continued development of AI capabilities will similarly lead to unforeseen, innovative applications that entrepreneurs with unique perspectives and experiences will create." 🧠 Celesta Partner David Goldman shares his perspective on the latest trends in the AI funding landscape: https://lnkd.in/g855sQnF

Founder and Managing Partner at Celesta Capital

I have made several big bets on India over the past 25 years of my career as a technology executive and investor. When we set up our deep tech venture firm Celesta Capital in 2013, we were looking for investments in India from Day One. At that time, few other investors were pursuing deep tech within India and it was difficult to find promising companies. One of the biggest challenges was the lack of a robust ecosystem of experienced tech entrepreneurs who had built consequential global businesses. Without this, we met a lot of founders who were not tackling big problems in those days. We saw many companies developing what I would call *evolutionary rather than *revolutionary products. This has now changed significantly. A lot of this shift has been spurred along by companies such as AgniKul Cosmos, GalaxEye, ideaForge, Tonbo Imaging and others. These relatively early pioneers in their various sectors are developing products that solve big problems, not just in India, but around the world. These don't look like other companies anywhere else in the world. In an entrepreneurial ecosystem, if you see some people tackling big problems and experiencing success, it is infectious. Most of these founders are young, aggressive, and exuberant, and they move forward with First Principles thinking. Today, I believe India is well-positioned to grow into a deep tech hub for decades to come. • Rising AI demand and insufficient hardware performance are on a collision course – how will our data centers keep up? 📈 "The reality is that enabling AI at scale – and at a sustainable cost basis – will require most hardware and software for the data center to be redesigned or replaced, which will mean rethinking next-generation AI data centers from the ground up. In 2023, AI training made up the majority of AI compute by more than 2:1. But as AI models mature and move into wide deployment, inference will rapidly overtake AI in the majority of data center AI compute, and is estimated to outpace AI training by 6:1 by 2030. This will require a complete rethink of data center architecture to support efficient cloud-based inference, necessitating a major evolution in areas like the core ASIC chips, high bandwidth memory, interconnect, and the AI software ecosystem. With all the innovation needed, where will it come from, and are the large infrastructure players going to be disrupted? While big tech companies certainly have the benefit of incumbency and funding advantage, the startup ecosystem will play an absolutely crucial role in driving the innovation necessary to enable the future of AI." Celesta Partner Ari Rubin details the pivotal role that startup ecosystem innovation is playing in the future of AI data centers in this article for Data Center Dynamics: https://lnkd.in/gFYUXs6T Eliyan Corporation Recogni

Co-Founder @ 5C Network: AI to help radiology become more reliable | Forbes 30 Under 30 (Asia and India)

My friends Michael E Marks, Alexander Sardina and I all have something in common. We love basketball. The 3 of us got together at a stakehouse in Palo Alto to talk game, and Klay's (then) upcoming return to Chase Arena. Incidentally, we have another thing in common: we are all massive believers in the AI's transformative capabilities in the clinical workflow. The 3 of us got together at Celesta Capital's offices the next day and did an episode of the TechSurge podcast to talk about this very hot sector! This is a great listen for anyone interested in this space -- we go deep into the actual usecase for AI in Radiology (and diagnostics in general), why there are so many companies in Radiology AI that claim to have something of interest, the regulatory landscape, and the big question of jobs in this space. After the first couple of minutes, I guess we forgot the mics were there and just had a freewheeling conversation between friends on a common journey. Go ahead and give it a listen :) (Link in comments) Also, a big thanks to Trevor DeWitt for making the magic happen! PS - The TechSurge podcast episode on Bitcoin by Sriram Viswanathan is one of my best listens of this year :) So definitely check that out.
